RALEIGH, N.C. -- William Peace University is proud to announce Kevin Daniels as Director of Athletics. Daniels took over as Interim Director of Athletics in late August of this year, as former A.D., Phil Rowe, was named Executive Director of Athletic Strategy and Special Projects.
"I am confident in the leadership that Coach Daniels has provided athletes at William Peace University. In almost every conversation I have with Coach Daniels, he speaks about improving the student-athlete experience inside and outside of the classroom. Coach Daniels works tirelessly to ensure our coaches are prepared and equipped to serve our student athletes and build upon athletic successes," expressed Frank Rizzo, Vice President of Student Life.
With this position Daniels will step down as WPU's Head Volleyball Coach. Daniels has led the Pacer volleyball team for ten years and during his time, achieved a (154-146) record, coaching 300 games in his career with the Pacers. With this transition, the University is conducting a national search for a new Head Volleyball Coach to join the William Peace University athletics staff.
Executive Director of Athletic Strategy and Special Projects, Phil Rowe, shared, "Kevin took over the day to day operations of our Athletic Department at a very challenging time for him and the University as we headed into the academic year. During the past three months Kevin has continued to demonstrate the highest level of personal integrity and the ability to instill that integrity throughout the department, while showing an uncompromising commitment to his student athletes and the department. His leadership ability to work with coaches, administrators and student athletes to attain the highest levels of athletic success came through to everyone. The decision of Dr. Ralph to remove the interim tag and name Kevin as our Director of Athletics is well deserved. I am thrilled to continue to work with Kevin building Pacer Athletics here at WPU. Kevin's passion for William Peace University and its mission will provide us excellent leadership and I believe that his strong presence in representing William Peace University at conference and national organizations will serve the University, our student-athletes, and our department with great integrity. Kevin has a compelling vision for the future of WPU athletics and the resourcefulness, intelligence, and experience to see that vision through."
