Men's Basketball Player of the Week
Jackson Whitley, Methodist - The senior forward from Greensboro, North Carolina averaged a double-double of 17.0 points and 11.5 rebounds to go along with 2.5 blocks and 1.5 steals per game as the Monarchs posted a 2-0 record last week versus USA South competition. In a 98-91 overtime win over N.C. Wesleyan, Whitley totaled 22 points, nine rebounds and two steals. In an 81-71 victory over Averett, Whitley posted a double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds while adding five blocks, one steal and one assist. Will Crumly, Covenant - The freshman forward from Marietta, Georgia averaged 10.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.0 blocks per game as the Scots posted a 1-1 record last week versus USA South competition. In a 95-59 loss to Maryville, Crumly totaled three points, four rebounds and one steal. In an 86-77 win over Huntingdon, Crumly tallied 17 points, nine rebounds and two blocks. Women's Basketball Player of the Week
Zarkia Mattox, Ferrum - The senior guard from Rocky Mount, Virginia averaged a double-double of 24.0 points and 11.7 rebounds to go along with 3.3 steals, 2.7 assists and 1.3 blocks per game as the Panthers posted a 2-1 record last week versus USA South members. In a 64-55 win over William Peace, Mattox notched a double-double of 26 points and 12 rebounds to go along with six steals, three assists and one block. In a 59-50 loss to Pfeiffer, Mattox again posted a double-double with 30 points and 15 rebounds while adding three blocks, two steals and two assists. Finally, in a 57-45 win at Greensboro, Mattox totaled 16 points, eight rebounds, three assists and two steals. Javana Jones, N.C. Wesleyan - The freshman guard from Gaithersburg, Maryland averaged 9.0 points, 8.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks as the Battling Bishops posted a 1-1 record versus USA South competition last week. In a 94-89 overtime loss to Greensboro, Jones totaled 11 points, seven rebounds, a career-high three blocks and one assist.
