Covenant Volleyball Moore Twins Named AVCA All-Region

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Covenant volleyball seniors Schuyler Moore and Ginny Moore were both named American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-South Region honorees, announced the organization on Thursday afternoon. Schuyler Moore was named first team All-Region, while Ginny Moore collected honorable mention accolades.

The announcement came as both Moores were helping Covenant to a 3-2 victory over Birmingham Southern in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Thursday in Atlanta.

The All-Region honor is the first for Schuyler Moore, a senior from Fort Myers, Fla. The senior setter is currently averaging 8.83 assists per set, while also tallying 3.12 digs and 1.16 kills per set. Moore was named first team All-USA South and first team All-West Division in the league. Her play was instrumental in leading Covenant to a USA South Tournament title, in which she was named the tournament's MVP.

Moore broke the program's career assists record earlier this season and has 3,793 currently. Additionally, Moore has tallied 20 double-doubles on the year and has narrowly missed on two triple-doubles during the season.

For Ginny Moore, a senior from Fort Myers, Fla., it is her second straight All-Region honorable mention selection after earning honors last season. The outside hitter leads the team in kills per set at 2.97 and in digs per set at 4.26. She also collected first team All-USA South and first team All-West Division honors this year in the conference. The senior helped Covenant to a USA South Tournament title and was selected to the All-Tournament team after Covenant rallied past Averett in the championship.

Moore has 22 matches of double-digit kills, including a season-high 20 in a win over Piedmont on Sept. 23.

The Moores were two of the four USA South players selected to the All-Region teams, joining first team selections Brianna Williams and Hannah Shields from Averett.

Covenant (25-7) will play Berry in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday at 4:30 p.m. in Atlanta, on the campus of Emory University.
