Barringer Named New WPU Volleyball Head Coach & SWA

Raleigh, N.C. -- William Peace University is proud to announce Nicole Barringer as the University's new Senior Women's Administrator and Head Volleyball Coach. A recent graduate of Averett University, Barringer is no stranger to the USA South Athletic Conference and brings with her a wealth of athletic administrative experience as well.

WPU Director of Athletics, Kevin Daniels shared, "We are fortunate to have someone like Nicole to take over the volleyball program here at Peace. Her track record as a player and coach will be a great fit for what we have been building and I'm confident that she will help the program get to the next level. I'm looking forward to seeing the growth we have coming."

Prior to joining the Pacers, Barringer served as an Assistant Volleyball Coach at Catawba College during their 2017 season. While earning her Masters in Business Administration, Barringer coached as a Volleyball Graduate Assistant at Averett University from 2015-2017. Barringer completed her undergraduate degree at Averett as well, graduating magna cum laude in Criminal Justice and Sociology with a minor in Communication Studies. 

"We are thrilled that Nicole Barringer has decided to join our staff as our Head Women's Volleyball Coach and SWA. During our search we were looking for someone who would demonstrate to us the unique skill set to continue our women's volleyball program while providing our administrative team creative and inspirational leadership," expressed Executive Director of Athletic Strategy, Phil Rowe. "Nicole has been mentored by some of the most respected coaches and administrators over the past four years. We are looking forward to having Nicole help us continue our department's growth in the months and years ahead."

During her time at Averett University, Barringer was a four-time All-Conference volleyball player and was honored as the USA South Conference Woman of the Year in 2015. Barringer served as the President of the USA South Athletic Conference Student Athlete Advisory Committee and was a National NCAA Student Athlete Advisory Committee representative in 2015 and 2016.  Barringer proudly served as a representative for the NCAA Committee on Women's Athletics from 2014-2016.

"I would like to thank Kevin Daniels and Phil Rowe for putting their trust in me for the Senior Women's Administrator and Head Women's Volleyball Coaching position.  I could not be more excited to be here at William Peace University.  I cannot wait to watch and help this athletic department continue to grow and succeed.  With the welcoming atmosphere I have felt in the last few days, this place already feels like home."

A native of Landis, North Carolina, Nicole enjoys spending time with family and friends, watching her brother play football, traveling, and being active.
