Justin Pierce, Averett - The senior guard/forward from Virginia Beach, Virginia led the Cougars to a 2-0 record last week by averaging 36.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.0 steals per contest. In an 87-73 win over Johnson & Wales (NC), Pierce tallied 33 points, eight rebounds, four assists and one steal. In an 88-74 win over USA South foe N.C. Wesleyan, Pierce totaled 39 points, which is the second-highest single-game point total in school history, nine rebounds, one steal and one block. Kiera Payne, Maryville - The Chattanooga, Tennessee senior guard led the Scots to a 2-0 record last week by averaging 18.0 points, 9.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.3 steals. In a 79-70 win over nationally-ranked Ferrum, Payne tallied a double-double of 16 points and ten rebounds. She also added five assists, two steals and two blocks in the victory. In a 98-57 win over N.C. Wesleyan, Payne totaled 19 points, nine rebounds, three assists and three steals. Finally, in a 65-60 loss to nationally-ranked Christopher Newport, Payne scored 19 points, grabbed nine rebounds, collected two steals and dished out one assist. Brandon Monk, Methodist - The Jacksonville, North Carolina freshman forward helped the Monarchs to a 2-0 record last week versus USA South competition by averaging 16.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per contest. In an 85-82 win over N.C. Wesleyan, Monk tallied 25 points, including the game-winning three-pointer as time expired, seven rebounds and one steal. In a 79-70 win over Ferrum, Puckett tallied 20 points, seven rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block. In a 98-57 victory over N.C. Wesleyan, Puckett contributed 16 points, five rebounds, three steals, one assist and one block. In a 65-60 loss to nationally-ranked Christopher Newport, Puckett totaled ten points, seven rebounds, two steals and one block.
