Tra Benefield, Christopher Newport - The junior forward from Folkston, Georgia led the Captains to a 3-0 record last week versus USA South competition by averaging 20.3 points, 9.7 rebounds and 1.0 steals per contest. In a 76-58 win over Ferrum, Benefield tallied a double-double of 27 points and ten rebounds. He also added one steal and one block in the victory. In a 68-48 win at Methodist, Benefield notched his second double-double of the week with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Finally, in a 90-60 victory at Greensboro, Benefield scored 18 points, grabbed eight rebounds, collected two steals and dished out one assist. Also Nominated: Brandon Givens, N.C. In a 92-88 win at LaGrange, Kipps tallied a double-double of 15 points and ten rebounds. She also added two blocks and one assist in the victory. In an 80-68 win over Averett, Byrd totaled ten points, five rebounds, one assist and one block. In a 72-65 victory at Greensboro, Byrd scored nine points, grabbed seven rebounds and collected one steal. In a 62-50 win at Greensboro, Miller tallied ten points, four rebounds, two steals, one assist and one block. In a 61-37 victory at Methodist, Miller totaled nine points, one rebound and one steal.
