Football Offensive Player of the Week
Ryan Throndset, Greensboro - The sophomore quarterback from Woodbine, Maryland set a new single-game school and USA South record for passing yards in a 34-33 victory over USA South foe Methodist. Throndset was 26-of-43 (60.5%) through the air for 398 yards with five touchdown passes. The five passing scores set a new single-game school record and ties the USA South mark. Football Defensive Player of the Week
Tyshawn Harris, Christopher Newport - The Virginia Beach, Virginia senior defensive back tallied a team-high 11 tackles and an interception in a 45-31 victory over USA South rival Maryville. Harris totaled nine solo tackles and two assisted take downs, including one tackle for loss. Harris' interception came deep in the opponent's territory in the third quarter. Football Special Teams Player of the Week
Tyler Brubaker, Ferrum - The Rocky Mount, Virginia sophomore punt returner averaged 22.2 yards per return in a 49-28 victory over USA South foe Averett. Brubaker's long return was 48 yards and helped set-up a Panther touchdown. As a running back, he accumulated 24 yards on seven carries as well as 69 yards on four pass receptions with one touchdown. Finally, Brubaker threw the ball twice with his lone completion resulting in a six-yard touchdown. Men's Soccer Player of the Week
Morgan Stevenson, Greensboro - The freshman forward from Cary, North Carolina helped The Pride to a 3-0 record last week by scoring four goals, two of which were game-winners, and adding one assist for nine points. In a 2-1 win over Hampden-Sydney, Stevenson was held scoreless. In a 3-0 victory over USA South foe Piedmont, Stevenson scored the first, and eventual game-winning, goal of the match in the 37th minute before assisting on an insurance score in the 53rd minute. Finally, in a 4-1 win over USA South rival LaGrange, Stevenson tallied his first-career hat trick as he scored The Pride's final three goals of the match. Also Nominated: Christian Turcios, Ferrum; Denny Arinello, Christopher Newport; Kevin Vigebo, Averett.

Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Logan Paussa, Greensboro - The sophomore defender from Cary, North Carolina helped The Pride to a 3-0 week by scoring a game-winning goal and leading a defensive effort that allowed just two goals during the week. In a 2-1 win over Hampden-Sydney, Paussa tallied both of his team's goals, the first in the 14th minute then the game-winner in the 35th minute. In a 3-0 victory over USA South foe Piedmont, Paussa helped the defense pitch the shutout while also assisting on the first goal of the match. Finally, in a 4-1 win over USA South rival LaGrange, Paussa helped keep The Pride undefeated for the week. Women's Soccer Player of the Week
Ashley Howarth, Maryville - The Knoxville, Tennessee junior forward tallied four goals in a 2-0 week for the Scots versus USA South competition. In a 5-1 win over Meredith, Howarth scored the eventual game-winning goal in the 30th minute before tallying an insurance score in the 57th minute. In a 12-1 victory over William Peace, Howarth scored the team's first goal in the 12th minute then notched another goal in the 65th minute. Also Nominated: Chelsea Wolfe, Christopher Newport; Kara Pegram, Ferrum; Kelly Miller, Piedmont; Pernilla Milton, Averett; Rebecca Staylor, N.C. Wesleyan.

Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Alexis Stahlman, Christopher Newport - The Fredericksburg, Virginia junior defender led the Captain defense to two shutouts versus USA South competition last week. In a 1-0 win over Methodist, the CNU defense gave up just four shots while in a 6-0 victory over N.C. Wesleyan, the Captains allowed eight attempts. Also Nominated: Kelsey Hopper, Meredith; Lizzy Simmons, Maryville; Malin Borjesson, Averett.

Volleyball Player of the Week
Bailey Jensen, Christopher Newport - The senior middle blocker from Ashburn, Virginia averaged 3.7 kills, a .463 hitting percentage, 1.6 blocks and 1.3 digs per set last week as the Captains posted a 3-0 record. In a 3-0 win over Virginia Wesleyan, Jensen recorded 13 kills, eight blocks and four digs. In a 3-1 victory over USA South foe Maryville, Jensen totaled 13 kills, three assists, three blocks and five digs. Finally, Jensen did not see any action in a 3-0 win over Greensboro. Also Nominated: Jennifer Opper, Piedmont; Katie Covington, LaGrange; Meredith Smith, N.C. Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week
Paige Eslinger, Piedmont - The senior defensive specialist from Ringgold, Georgia averaged 7.5 digs per set last week as the Lions posted a 2-0 record versus USA South competition. In a 3-0 win over Mary Baldwin, Eslinger recorded 24 digs and two service aces. In a 3-0 victory over Meredith, Eslinger totaled 21 digs and one assist. Also Nominated: Bailey Jensen, Christopher Newport; Paige Aaron, Averett; Shana Ayers, N.C. Wesleyan.

Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week
Ray Gamache, Christopher Newport - The senior from Burlington, Vermont placed 13th out of 170 runners and second among D-III competitors, last week at the Charles Bowles Willamette Invitational. Gamache completed the 8K course in a time of 25:27, helping the Captains to a fourth place team finish. Also Nominated: Chase McCulley, LaGrange; Lynn Welch, Averett.

Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week
Lydia Cromwell, Christopher Newport - The freshman from Round Hill, Virginia placed 29th out of 212 runners and sixth among D-III competitors at the Charles Bowles Willamette Invitational. Cromwell completed the 5K course in a time of 18:57, helping the Captains to a 11th place team finish. Also Nominated: Lauren Brandner, LaGrange; Morgan Youd, Meredith.

Paul Dukes, Christopher Newport - The freshman running back from Norfolk, Virginia scored three touchdowns in a 45-31 win over USA South foe Maryville. Dukes ran the ball 13 times for 92 yards, good for a 7.1-yard average. He also returned four kickoffs for an average of 29.5 yards per attempt. Also Nominated: Cody Darracott, LaGrange; John Pappillion, Methodist; Martin Smith, Averett.

Football Defensive Rookie of the Week
Christian Best, Averett - The freshman linebacker from Richmond, Virginia totaled six tackles in a 49-28 loss to USA South rival Ferrum. Best collected two solo tackles and four assisted take downs including one sack for a loss of five yards. Also Nominated: Joe Mitchell, Greensboro; Zach Capehart, Maryville.

Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week

Chelsea Wolfe, Christopher Newport - The Williamsburg, Virginia freshman midfielder tallied five assists last week as the Captains posted a 2-0 record versus USA South competition. In a 1-0 win over Methodist, Wolfe assisted on the game-winner in the 53rd minute. In a 6-0 victory over N.C. Wesleyan, Wolfe set a new single-game school record with four assists. Her first assist of the day was the eventual game-winner in the fourth minute. Also Nominated: Sierra Siegal, Maryville; Taylor Brown, Meredith.

Volleyball Rookie of the Week
Jasmine Aguinaldo, Meredith - The freshman middle blocker from Cary, North Carolina averaged 4.4 digs and 1.4 kills per set last week as the Avenging Angels posted a 2-1 record. In a 3-2 non-conference win over William Peace, Aguinaldo totaled 27 digs, eight kills, six assists, three blocks and one service ace. In a 3-0 loss to USA South foe Piedmont, Aguinaldo contributed 11 digs, two kills, one service ace and one block. Finally, in a 3-0 win over Mary Baldwin, Aguinaldo tallied ten digs, five kills, two blocks and one service ace. Men's Cross Country Rookie of the Week
Josh Showalter, Christopher Newport - The freshman from Leesburg, Virginia placed 65th out of 170 runners, 29th among D-III competitors, last week at the Charles Bowles Willamette Invitational. Showalter completed the 8K course in a time of 26:40, helping the Captains to a fourth place team finish. Also Nominated: Chase McCulley, LaGrange.

Women's Cross Country Rookie of the Week
