USA South Athletes of the Week - Nov. 12, 2012

Football Offensive Player of the Week
Ryan Throndset, Greensboro - The sophomore quarterback from Woodbine, Maryland set four single-game school and USA South records in a 31-27 win over USA South foe LaGrange. Throndset established new records with 38 pass completions, 59 pass attempts, 598 passing yards and 599 yards of total offense. Additionally, he threw four touchdowns which tied a single-game school record. For the season, Throndset set a new USA South and school record with 227 pass completions. He also established new single-season school records for passing yards (2,825), passing touchdowns (19) and total offense (2,798 yards). Football Defensive Player of the Week
Dylan Wolfenbarger, Maryville - The Knoxville, Tennessee junior linebacker made 13 total tackles in a 22-17 win at USA South foe Ferrum as the Scots captured a share of the USA South Championship. Wolfenbarger made eight solo tackles with five assisted take downs in the victory. Also Nominated: Evan Moog, Christopher Newport; Julian Cinotti, Greensboro; Tyler Robertson, Averett.

Football Special Teams Player of the Week
Jonathan Sykes, Maryville - The Nassau, Bahamas senior place kicker set a new single-game school record by connecting on five field goals in a 22-17 win at USA South foe Ferrum as the Scots captured a share of the USA South Championship. The five field goals also tied a single-game USA South record. Sykes was five-of-six on the day as he hit kicks from 25, 28, 46, 34 and 35 yards out. He also connected on his only point-after-touchdown attempt of the afternoon. Also Nominated: Dwayne Hollis, N.C. Wesleyan; Mason Studer, Christopher Newport; Matthew Smith, Averett.

Rookies of the Week

Football Offensive Rookie of the Week
Paul Dukes, Christopher Newport - The freshman running back from Norfolk, Virginia rushed for 83 yards in a 30-29 loss to USA South foe Methodist. Despite the loss, CNU earned a share of the USA South Championship. Dukes carried the ball 26 times and averaged 3.2 yards-per-rush in the win. Also Nominated: Nathan Driver, Averett.

Football Defensive Rookie of the Week
LeTovis Davis, Methodist - The freshman defensive back from Rocky Mount, North Carolina was in on 16 total tackles in a 30-29 victory over USA South foe Christopher Newport. Davis compiled one solo tackles, 15 assisted take downs, one tackle for a three-yard loss and a pass break-up in the win. Also Nominated: Desmond Gillis, Greensboro; Gabe Johnson, Maryville; Michael Reives, Averett.
