Keith Grabowski, Piedmont - The sophomore outfielder from Suwanee, Georgia made just four outs in 20 plate appearances, going 9-for-12 (.750) with eight runs scored, three RBI, one double, six walks and three stolen bases as the Lions posted a 4-1 record last week versus USA South competition. In doubleheader sweep of N.C. Wesleyan, Grabowski only played in game-two and went 4-for-5 with three runs scored, one double and one stolen base. In a three-game series win at Methodist, Grabowski was a combined 5-for-7 with five runs scored, three RBI, six walks and two stolen bases. Megan McClain, Piedmont - The senior infielder from Bishop, Georgia went 11-for-20 (.550) with five runs scored, three RBI, one double, two walks and four stolen bases as the Lions posted a 4-2 record last week at the NFCA Leadoff Classic which included three wins over nationally-ranked opponents. In a 3-1 win over 17th-ranked Ohio Northern, McClain was 2-for-4 with three stolen bases. In a 1-0 loss to 25th-ranked East Texas Baptist, McClain was 1-for-4. In a 2-1 win over tenth-ranked Central (IA), McClain was held hitless in two at-bats. In a 5-0 victory over Willamette, McClain was 3-for-4 with two runs scored, one run batted in and one stolen base. In a 2-1 loss to fourth-ranked Emory, McClain was 3-for-4 with one double. Finally, in a 7-3 non-Conference win over seventh-ranked Christopher Newport, McClain was a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs scored, two RBI and two walks. In a 1-0 loss to 25th-ranked East Texas Baptist, Head tossed seven complete innings and allowed just one run on four hits with two walks and six strikeouts. In a 5-0 won over Willamette, Head pitched a complete-game shutout and allowed five hits with one walk and two strikeouts. Finally, in a 7-3 non-Conference victory over seventh-ranked Christopher Newport, Head again went the distance and allowed three runs on nine hits with zero walks and six strikeouts. In a 15-11 victory over Bridgewater, Hewartson scored four goals with four assists, two groundballs and one draw control. In a 21-2 win over USA South foe N.C. Wesleyan, Hewartson tallied four goal with seven assists, two groundballs and one caused turnover. Finally, in a 19-4 victory over Hood, Hewartson totaled three goals, four assists, three groundballs and one caused turnover. Rachel Tomlinson, Christopher Newport - The Springfield, Virginia senior midfielder tallied six groundballs, six draw controls and three caused turnovers in a 2-0 week for the Captains. In a 22-3 win over USA South foe Agnes Scott, Tomlinson collected a season-high four draw controls and also scored one goal with two assists. In a 13-9 victory over Adrian, Tomlinson totaled a season-best six groundballs with two goals, two draw controls and two caused turnovers. Men's Tennis Player of
Robert Kjellberg, N.C. Wesleyan - The junior from Vetlanda, Sweden earned a 2-1 record at number-one singles and a 1-2 mark at number-one doubles last week against opponents from three nationally-ranked teams. In singles play, Kjellberg's victories came over the 11th-ranked player in the nation and the eighth-ranked player in the West Region. His lone singles loss was 14-12 in a third-set tiebreaker. Norzagaray came on in relief in the top of the ninth innings and proceeded to toss the final five innings allowing no runs on just one hit with zero walks and seven strikeouts. Sarah Connolly, Greensboro - The freshman catcher/infielder from Mount Airy, North Carolina went 6-for-10 (.600) with six runs scored, six RBI, three doubles, one home run, two walks and four stolen bases as The Pride posted a 4-0 record last week versus USA South competition. In a doubleheader sweep of Averett, Connolly was a combined 2-for-5 with one run scored, one run batted in and two doubles. In a doubleheader sweep of Mary Baldwin, Connolly was a combined 4-for-5 with five runs scored, five RBI, one double, one home run, two walks and four stolen bases. Ellingson totaled 21.1 innings pitched and allowed four runs, only one of which was earned, on 12 hits with nine walks and 14 strikeouts. In a 3-1 win over 17th-ranked Ohio Northern, Ellingson tossed seven-complete innings and allowed just one unearned run on five hits with two walks and seven strikeouts. In a 2-1 victory over tenth-ranked Central (IA), Ellingson again went the distance and allowed one run on four hits with two walks and six strikeouts. Finally, in a 2-1, eight-inning, loss to fourth-ranked Emory, Ellingson pitched 7.1 innings and allowed two unearned runs on three hits with five walks and one strikeout. In singles play, two of Ljungdahl's three victories came over opponents who are currently ranked in the West Region. In singles play, Graf collected her win over an opponent from Averett. In doubles, Graf earned wins both at the top and second doubles-spots by teaming with Hillary Petruska.
