Men's Basketball Player of the Week
Adrian Moore, N.C. Wesleyan - The senior guard from Plymouth, North Carolina averaged 23.0 points, 8.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 3.0 steals per game as the Battling Bishops posted a 3-0 record last week versus USA South competition, all on the road, to clinch the East Division title. In a 93-84, overtime, win over Methodist, Moore totaled 33 points, nine rebounds, four assists and three steals. In a 91-87 victory over LaGrange, Moore notched a double-double of 20 points and 12 rebounds with three assists and one steal. Finally in an 84-69 win over Huntingdon, Moore posted 16 points, five rebounds, five steals and three assists. Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week
Harrison Cochran, Averett - The freshman guard from Graham, North Carolina averaged 19.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 1.0 steals per game as the Cougars posted a 2-1 record last week versus USA South members. In an 82-79 loss to Greensboro, Cochran posted 29 points, three rebounds and two steals. In a 77-67 win over Brevard, Cochran totaled 16 points, nine rebounds and three assists. Finally, in a 85-75 victory over Piedmont, Cochran scored 14 points, grabbed four rebounds and collected one steal. Women's Basketball Player of the Week
Zarkia Mattox, Ferrum - The senior guard from Rocky Mount, Virginia averaged a double-double of 26.0 points and 10.5 rebounds to go along with 5.5 steals and 3.0 assists per game as the Panthers posted a 2-0 record last week versus USA South competition to earn a share of the East Division title. In a 70-34 win over Mary Baldwin, Mattox notched a double-double of 18 points and ten rebounds with six steals and four assists. In a 78-62 victory over William Peace, Mattox again collected a double-double with 34 points and 11 rebounds to go along with five steals, two assists and one block. Kimberly Schuh, Meredith - The freshman forward from Apex, North Carolina averaged a double-double of 29.5 points and 12.0 rebounds to go along with 2.0 assists per game as the Avenging Angels posted a 1-1 record versus USA South competition last week. In a 66-64 win over William Peace, Schuh notched a double-double of 35 points and 15 rebounds with two assists and one steal. In a 70-69 loss to Salem, Schuh posted 24 points, nine rebounds and two assists. Also Nominated: Kayla Johnson, N.C. Wesleyan.
Baseball Player of the Week
Alec Allred, William Peace - The junior infielder from Ramseur, North Carolina has gone a combined 11-for-18 (.611) with a .632 on-base percentage and an .833 slugging percentage to go along with one run scored, four RBI and four doubles as the Pacers have notched a 3-2 record to open the season. In taking two games during a three-game series with Southern Virginia, Allred was a combined 9-for-11 with one run scored, three RBI and four doubles. In a two-game split with Brevard, Allred was a combined 2-for-7 with one run batted in. Nate Gardner, N.C. Wesleyan - The junior from Hertford, North Carolina earned a victory over Eastern Mennonite in his only appearance on the mound last week for the Battling Bishops. In seven shutout innings, he allowed one hit with zero walks and four strikeouts to give NCWC the season-opening, 2-0, win. Ryan Traylor, Averett - The freshman shortstop from Chesterfield, Virginia went a combined 1-for-4 (.250) with a .500 on-base percentage and a .250 slugging percentage to go along with two runs scored, two walks and one stolen base as the Cougars dropped their first two games of the season to Washington & Lee. Drew Tubb, N.C. Wesleyan - The freshman from Tampa, Florida, in his first collegiate start, picked up the win over Eastern Mennonite, 4-0, by throwing five shutout innings in his only appearance on the mound for the Battling Bishops last week. Bryce Coates, Huntingdon - The San Diego, California freshman attacker scored three goals in a 10-5 win over Dallas in the team's season-opening contest last week. His first two goals gave the Hawks an early 2-0 advantage. Coates also added two caused turnovers and one ground ball in the victory. Also Nominated: Jeremy Kohn, Piedmont.
