USA South Golf Athletes of the Week - March 28, 2018

Golfer of the Week
Drew Mathers, Huntingdon - The sophomore from Mobile, Alabama captured his first collegiate tournament championship at the Wynlakes Intercollegiate in Montgomery, Alabama last week by shooting a two-under par 142. In the two-day event, Mathers opened with a two-under par 70 and finished with an even-par 72 to help the Hawks to a second place team finish. Also Nominated: David White, N.C. Wesleyan; Jorgen Buskbjerg, Averett; Larkin Gross/Chris Drysdale, Methodist.

Golf Rookie of the Week
Juan de Giacomi, N.C. Wesleyan - The freshman from Posadas, Argentina finished tied for tenth at the Camp Lejeune Gold Intercollegiate in Jacksonville, North Carolina last week by shooting a one-over par 143. In the two-day event, de Giacomi opened with a one-under par 69 and finished with a two-over par 74 to help the Battling Bishops finish tied for second as a team. Also Nominated: Jorgen Buskbjerg, Averett; Sam Rogers, LaGrange; Trey Capps, William Peace; Palmer Wilson, Piedmont.
