USA South Golf Athletes of the Week - Oct. 3, 2018

Golfer of the Week
Juan de Giacomi, N.C. Wesleyan - The sophomore from Posadas, Argentina placed fifth out of 70 golfers at the Gordin Classic hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University in Columbus, Ohio by shooting a three-under par 213. The tournament featured 11 teams currently ranked in the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) National Top-25 Poll. In the three-round event, de Giacomi opened with an even-par 72, followed with a two-under par 70 and finished with a one-under par 71 to help the Bishops seventh place team finish. Also Nominated: Marshall Kent, Covenant; Austin Fisher, Brevard; Scott Campbell, Greensboro; Matthew Leemann, Piedmont; Larkin Gross, Methodist.

Golf Rookie of the Week
Carson Whitton, Huntingdon - The freshman from Newnan, Georgia finished tied for 12th out of 70 golfers at the Gordin Classic hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University in Columbus, Ohio by shooting an even-par 216. The tournament featured 11 teams currently ranked in the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) National Top-25 Poll. In the three-round event, Whitton opened with a pair of one-under 71s before finishing with a two-over par 74 to help the Hawks to a sixth place team finish. Also Nominated: Andre Chi, Methodist; Davis Reynolds, Greensboro; Mathias Andersen, LaGrange; Candler Murphy, Piedmont.
