USA South Athletes of the Week - Dec. 17, 2018

MEN'S BASKETBALL

Men's Basketball Player of the Week
Robert Wilson, N.C. Wesleyan - The senior forward from Chapel Hill, North Carolina averaged 22.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 1.5 steals per game in a 2-0 week for the Bishops versus USA South competition. In a 96-58 win over Huntingdon, Wilson posted 22 points, six assists, four rebounds and three steals. In an 84-82 victory over Averett, Wilson totaled 23 points, six rebounds and four assists. Also Nominated: Lincoln Anderson, LaGrange; Vince Contreras, Averett; Andrew Doty, Berea; Levi Lamb, Brevard; James Mitchell, Covenant; Craig Sabb, Pfeiffer.

Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week
Andrew Doty, Berea - The freshman center from Irvine, Kentucky scored 16 points with six rebounds in a 65-64 win over USA South foe Piedmont in the team's only contest last week. Also Nominated: Noah Smith, Averett; Blake Zieske, Pfeiffer.

 

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

Women's Basketball Player of the Week
T.I. Duncan, Huntingdon - The Talladega, Alabama senior guard averaged a double-double of 20.0 points and 12.0 rebounds to go along with 6.5 assists and 2.0 blocks per game in a 1-1 week for the Hawks. In a 56-49 loss to USA South foe Berea, Duncan notched a double-double of 12 points and 12 rebounds with five assists, four blocks and one steal. In a 92-78 win over Mississippi University for Women, Duncan posted a double-double of a career-high 28 points and 12 rebounds to go along with eight assists. Also Nominated: Jatasia Bailey, Piedmont; Kaley Hallmark, Covenant; Javana Jones, N.C. Wesleyan; Briana Lanham, Berea; A'Mya McClain, Pfeiffer; Mikayla Ray, William Peace; Alixis Roccia, Averett.

Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week
Cydney Nichols., N.C. Wesleyan -
 The Suffolk, Virginia sophomore, in her first year of collegiate basketball, guard averaged 15.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.0 assists in a 1-1 week for the Bishops versus USA South competition. In a 70-59 win over Pfeiffer, Nichols scored a career-high 26 points with four rebounds and three steals. In a 69-65 loss to William Peace, Nichols totaled five points, six rebounds, two assists and one steal. Also Nominated: Kassidy Crawford, Huntingdon; Hope Franklin, Piedmont; Camryn Lunsford, Averett; Bailee Vanover, Berea.
