USA South Athletes of the Week - Jan. 14, 2019

MEN'S BASKETBALL

Men's Basketball Player of the Week
Will Crumly, Covenant - The sophomore forward from Marietta, Georgia averaged 24.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per game as the Scots posted a 3-0 record last week versus USA South competition. In a 75-69 win at Berea, Crumly posted 30 points, nine rebounds and one assist. In a 77-59 victory over Methodist, Crumly notched a double-double of 29 points and 13 rebounds with two blocks. Finally, in a 78-74 win over William Peace, Crumly totaled 13 points, five rebounds and one assist. Also Nominated: Dante Burden, Methodist; A.J. Frye, N.C. Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week
Greyson Collins, Greensboro - The freshman guard from Greensboro, North Carolina averaged 16.3 points, 2.7 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.7 assists per game as the Pride posted a 1-2 record last week versus USA South competition. In a 108-92 loss to N.C. Wesleyan, Collins did not score and had one assist in just ten minutes played. In a 122-90 loss to LaGrange, Collins scored a career-high 25 points with two steals one rebound and one assist. Finally, in a 98-96, overtime, win over Huntingdon, Collins totaled 24 points, four steals, three rebounds and three assists. Also Nominated: B.J. WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

Women's Basketball Player of the Week
Amari Price, Piedmont - The Hiram, Georgia junior guard averaged 19.0 points, 7.3 assists, 6.0 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game as the Lions posted a 3-0 record versus USA South competition last week. In a 71-68 win over Maryville, Price posted 25 points, eight assists, four rebounds and one steal. In a 73-47 victory over Berea, Price tallied eight points, nine rebounds, seven assists and two steals. Finally, in a 78-48 win over Brevard, Price totaled 24 points, seven assists, five rebounds and two steals. Also Nominated: Tyzarea Alexander, Methodist; Brooke Carthon, Averett; T.I. Duncan, Huntingdon; Marilauren Farr, LaGrange; Kayla Johnson, N.C. Wesleyan; Deja Riddick, Brevard; Joanna Smith, Covenant; Bailee Vanover, Berea; A'Liyah Woods, Greensboro.

Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week
Bailee Vanover, Berea -
 The Richmond, Kentucky freshman guard averaged 14.7 points and 3.3 rebounds per game as the Mountaineers posted a 2-1 record versus USA South competition last week. In a 71-61 win over Covenant, Vanover posted 17 points, three assists and one rebound. In a 73-47 loss to division-leading Piedmont, Vanover totaled six points, four rebounds and one assist. Finally, in a 63-56 win over Maryville, Vanover scored a career-high 21 points to go along with five rebounds, two assists and two steals. Also Nominated: Avery Lockwood, Brevard; Camryn Lunsford, Averett; Cydney Nichols, N.C. Wesleyan; Emma Olson, Agnes Scott.
