USA South Golf Athletes of the Week - March 6, 2019

Golfer of the Week
Dan Shepherd, Methodist - The senior from Wilton, New York placed first out of 90 golfers at the Savannah Harbor Classic hosted by The Club at Savannah Harbor in Savannah, Georgia last week by shooting a one-under par 143. In the two-round event, Shepherd shot an even-par 72 to open the tournament and finished with a one-under par 71 to help the Monarchs to a second place team finish. Also Nominated: Mariano Silvestri, N.C. Wesleyan; Austin Fisher, Brevard; Drew Mathers, Huntingdon; Hunter Dillard, Pfeiffer; Samuli Ahvenoja, Averett; Matthew Leemann, Piedmont.

Golf Rookie of the Week
Zach Swink, Greensboro - The freshman from Canonsburg, Pennsylvania finished tied for 21st out of 90 golfers at the Savannah Harbor Classic hosted by The Club at Savannah Harbor in Savannah, Georgia last week by shooting a six-over par 150. In the two-round event, Swink carded back-to-back three over par 75's to help the Pride to a tie for fourth place in the team rankings. Also Nominated: Crawford Collett, Covenant; Frankie Schmitt, N.C. Wesleyan; Darley Randall, Pfeiffer.
