USA South Golf Athletes of the Week - Oct. 9, 2019


Men's Golfer of the Week
Ben Womack, LaGrange - The junior from Midland, Georgia placed first out of 91 golfers at the Royal Lakes Invitational in Flowery Branch, Georgia last week by shooting an eight-under par 136. In the two-round event, Womack opened with a three-under par 69 and finished with a five-under par 67 to help the Panthers to a fifth place tie team finish. Also Nominated: Zane Brownrigg, Methodist; Frankie Schmitt, N.C. Wesleyan; Connor Brown, Greensboro.

Men's Golf Rookie of the Week
Cameron Cappuzzo, Methodist - The freshman from Fort Mill, South Carolina placed first out of 27 golfers at the St. Andrews Fall Invitational last week by shooting a two-over par 146. In the two-round event, Cappuzzo opened with a three-over par 75 and finished with a one-under par 71 to help the Monarchs to first place team finish. Also Nominated: Luis Zurita, N.C. Wesleyan.



Women's Golfer of the Week
Jillian Drinkard, Methodist - The sophomore from Appomattox, Virginia placed second out of 58 golfers at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational by shooting a two-over par 74 in the one-round event last week. Drinkard helped the Monarchs to a third place team finish. Also Nominated: None.
