Men's Basketball Player of the Week
Michael Phifer, Greensboro - The senior forward from Eden, North Carolina averaged a double-double of 21.5 points and 12.5 rebounds per game to go along with 3.5 assists and 2.0 steals as the Pride posted a 1-1 record last week. In a 90-73 loss to Division I High Point, Phifer posted a team-high 22 points with five rebounds, four assists and two steals. In a 95-80 victory over Warren Wilson, Phifer became the first player in Greensboro men's basketball history to score at least 20 points and grab at least 20 rebounds in a single game. Phifer totaled 21 points and tied a single-game program record with 20 rebounds while also adding three assists, two steals and one block in the win. Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week
Felix Uadiale, Maryville - The freshman forward from McDonough, Georgia averaged 7.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 1.0 steals per game as the Scots posted a 0-2 record last week. In an 83-81, overtime, loss to Oglethorpe, Uadiale totaled 13 points, nine rebounds, two assists and two steals. In a 95-82 loss to second-ranked Emory, Uadiale scored two points and grabbed five rebounds. Also Nominated: Corey Baldwin, Averett.
Women's Basketball Player of the Week
Klaire Varney, Maryville - The Crossville, Tennessee junior guard averaged 20.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 5.0 steals and 3.5 assists per game as the Scots posted a 1-1 record last week. In a 75-67 win over tenth-ranked Transylvania, Varney poured in a career-high 32 points with nine rebounds, eight steals and six steals. In a 68-56 loss to Southern Virignia, Varney totaled eight points, six rebounds, two steals and one assist. Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week
Kate Perko, Meredith - The Fayetteville, North Carolina freshman forward scored a game-high 23 points in a 61-59 loss to Piedmont International in the team's only contest last week.
