The USA South Athletic Conference's 18th annual Cans Across The Conference food drive competition has concluded. Since classes began this fall until November 17th, USA South member institutions participated in the community service competition. Each campus Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) collected cans and other non-perishable items to benefit a local charity of their choosing. The institution with the most items collected is crowned the Cans Across the Conference Champion.
With a grand total of 4,240, Pfeiffer University is the Cans Across the Conference Champion for 2022. This is the first time the Falcons have claimed victory in this competition. Greensboro College collected 3,482 items to finish second while Brevard College's 2,359 items rounded out the top-three.
Overall, the USA South institutions collected 14,297 items this fall. Over the 18-year history of the program, USA South Conference institutions have donated 617,527 items to various local organizations.
Individually, five institutions, consisting of Brevard, Greensboro, Meredith, N.C. Wesleyan, and Pfeiffer, improved on their collection amounts from a year ago. Additionally, of those schools, Pfeiffer set new single-year record for its institution for the second consecutive competition.

Brevard College: Split between Brevard's on-campus food pantry, Bread of Life, as well as The Sharing House in Brevard, North Carolina.
Greensboro College: Split between the new on-campus Pride Pantry and the Greensboro, North Carolina Urban Ministry Food Bank.
Mary Baldwin University: Blue Ridge Area Food Bank in Verona, Virginia.
Meredith College: The Raleigh, North Carolina Rescue Mission.
Methodist University: Fayetteville, North Carolina Second Harvest Food Bank.
N.C. Wesleyan College: The Rocky Mount, North Carolina United Community Ministries.
Pfeiffer University: Stanly Community Christian Ministry in Albemarle, North Carolina.
William Peace University: The Pacer Pantry on the WPU Campus which assists families-in-need within the University community.
