(BUENA VISTA, VA) - The 2022 USA South Volleyball Tournament championship took place on the campus of Southern Virginia University on Saturday, November 5 as the host top-seeded Knights defeated second-seeded William Peace, 3-0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-20), to capture the crown for the second consecutive season.

After William Peace jumped out to a 4-2 lead in the first set, Southern Virginia responded with five straight points to grab control and the opening set. In the second set, the Knights scored the first five points and would not look back in taking a two-set lead. The third set was more of the same as William Peace kept things close in the beginning until a 4-0 SVU run pushed the lead to 17-13 which was good enough to grab the championship-clinching set.

Southern Virginia was led by Courtney Pinkston who had a double-double with a match-high 13 kills to go along with 12 digs as well as a match-high three service aces. The Knight setter, Sage Matheny had a match-high 40 assists while Brenna Clyde and Sydney Hopkin contributed 11 kills each. For William Peace, Mackenzie Russell posted a double-double with 24 assists and 12 digs in a losing effort.
