(MISENHEIMER, NC) - The 2023 USA South Softball Tournament has drawn to a close with top-seeded Pfeiffer capturing the championship for the first time in the program's history. In the best-of-three championship series, the Falcons swept second-seeded Greensboro, with 10-3 and 6-0 victories.

In the first game, Pfeiffer jumped on Greensboro early with eight runs over the first three innings thanks to two home runs from Emma Chopko. The Pride answered with three runs, which included a home run by Alexis Sox. The Falcons pushed two insurance runs across in the latter innings to secure the game one victory. In the circle, Kali Morton went the first three innings without allowing a run to earn the victory.

In game two, Morton was in the circle again for Pfeiffer and tossed a complete-game shutout, allowing three hits and three balls with seven strikeouts. On offense, Gracie Griffin got the Falcons going in the third inning with a two-run double which was followed-up by a sacrifice bunt run batted in from Caiti Mickles. Pfeiffer would keep the runs coming in the next inning with runs batted in from Charly Cooper and Kyndell Warren to go up 5-0. A single run in the sixth inning would end the scoring for the Falcons.
