2024 USA South Men's Soccer Awards Announced

The USA South Athletic Conference has announced its 2024 All-Conference awards for men's soccer. Individually, the Brevard trio of Ryan Lynch, Vitor Razera, and Matheus Rossi, were named Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year, and Goalkeeper of the Year, respectively. N.C. Wesleyan's Mark Bowman earned Coach of the Year accolades to round out the individual awards. Additionally, the USA South recognized an All-Sportsmanship Team, consisting of one member from each competing school who their coach felt displayed the best sportsmanship this season.

All awards were voted on by the men's soccer coach at each institution.

Lynch, a senior forward from Charlotte, North Carolina, becomes just the second men's soccer student-athlete to be named USA South Player of the year in consecutive seasons (Brian Lybert, Christopher Newport, 2010-2011). Lynch concluded the regular season leading the Conference in points (30), goals (10), and assists (10). Against USA South opposition-only, Lynch had a League-best six assists while also adding three goals. For his efforts this fall, Lynch becomes the first men's soccer student-athlete to be named All-Conference for a fifth consecutive season while also collecting First Team honors as a forward for the third straight time. Finally, he was named USA South Player of the Week four times this season.

Razera, a Piracicaba, Brazil freshman defender becomes the first Brevard men's soccer student-athlete to be named USA South Rookie of the Year. During the regular season, Razera helped the Tornado defense lead the League with a 0.85 goals-against-average and seven shutouts. He also contributed offensively, leading all Conference defenders with 11 points on four goals and three assists. In Conference play, Razera scored one goal with two assists as the Tornado defense led the way by allowing just three goals in seven contests and posting five shutouts. In addition to his individual accolades, Razera earned First Team All-Conference honors at the defender position while being named USA South Rookie of the Week twice.

Rossi, a Vitoria, Espirito Santo, Brazil senior goalkeeper becomes the first Brevard men's soccer student-athlete to be named Goalkeeper of the Year. Rossi played 993 minutes during the regular season and led the Conference with a 0.60 goals-against-average and five shutouts to go along with a .697 save percentage while compiling a 7-3-2 record. Against USA South competition, Rossi was 4-1-1 while leading the League in goals-against-average (0.50), save percentage (.813), and shutouts (4). For his efforts this fall, Rossi was named the First Team All-Conference goalkeeper after earning Second Team accolades a year ago. Finally, he collected USA South Defensive Player of the Week twice.

Bowman, in his third season as N.C. Wesleyan's head coach, earns his second USA South Coach of the Year honor. Picked to finish first by the coaches in the preseason poll, Bowman's Battling Bishops did just that in claiming the program's 11th regular season Conference crown with a perfect record of 7-0-0. It is the first time a team has went through the League season unbeaten and untied since 2019 (Covenant, 13-0-0). Currently, N.C. Wesleyan has compiled a 9-3-4 overall record.
