The USA South Athletic Conference has announced its 2024 All-Conference awards for women's soccer. Individually, the Brevard trio of Kinlee Mozley, Abby Nunez, and Juan Mascaro were named Rookie of the Year, Goalkeeper of the Year, and Coach of the Year, respectively. Greensboro's Amery Skinner was selected as Player of the Year to round out the individual honors. Additionally, the USA South recognized an All-Sportsmanship Team, consisting of one member from each competing school who their coach felt displayed the best sportsmanship this season.
All awards were voted on by the women's soccer coach at each institution.
Skinner, a senior midfielder from Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina, becomes just the second Greensboro women's soccer student-athlete to be named USA South Player of the Year (Ashley Cabral, 2007). Skinner helped control the midfield for the Pride while also contributing 12 goals, which ranked second in the League during the regular season, along with four assists. Against League foes, Skinner was tied for second in the Conference with 13 points on five goals and three assists. For her efforts this season, Skinner was named a First Team All-Conference performer for the second straight fall.
Mozley, a freshman forward from Lexington, South Carolina, becomes the first Brevard women's soccer student-athlete to be named USA South Rookie of the Year. During the regular season, Mozley led all rookies and was second in the League in points with 27 on ten goals and seven assists. In Conference action, Mozley finished tied for second in the USA South in points with 13 on four goals and five assists. For her efforts this fall, Mozley was named a First Team All-Conference forward as well as USA South Rookie of the Week once.
Nunez, a sophomore from Homestead, Florida, becomes the first Brevard women's soccer student-athlete to be named USA South Goalkeeper of the Year. In 799 regular season minutes played, Nunez compiled a 7-0-2 record while leading the League in goals allowed (3), goals-against-average (0.34), save percentage (.900) to go along with five shutouts. In Conference action only, Nunez posted a USA South-best 0.29 goals-against-average with a .897 save percentage and four shutouts. In addition to her standout play in net, Nunez also scored one goal and assisted on another. For her efforts, Nunez was named the First Team All-Conference goalkeeper and three times picked up USA South Defensive Player of the Week honors this year.
Mascaro, in his ninth year as Brevard's head coach, becomes the first Tornado women's soccer coach to be named USA South Coach of the Year. This season, he led his team to the program's first USA South regular season title. Brevard compiled an 8-0-1 League record this fall after being selected to finish third by the USA South coaches in the preseason poll.
