The semifinal round of the 2024 USA South Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Tournament has concluded with second-seeded Methodist and fourth-seeded Southern Virginia advancing to the finals.
In the first semifinal, Methodist used great defense to post a 2-0 shutout of third-seeded Greensboro. The Monarchs took an early lead on a goal from Kelsey Burge in the third minute of the game. The score would remain 1-0 until Methodist's Corrine Shovlain notched an insurance tally with exactly 14 minutes remaining in the game. Carolina Simpkins stopped both shots on net to preserve the clean sheet.
In the second semifinal, top-seeded Brevard and Southern Virginia played to a scoreless draw and needed penalty kicks to decide who would advance. After 110 minutes played each, the Tornado's Abby Nunez and the Knights' Katrina Gardner each stopped all shots they faced while in net. During the penalty kicks, Southern Virginia advanced to the finals thanks to a 3-1 tally.
The finals are now set as Southern Virginia will travel to Methodist on Saturday, November 9. The Monarchs will look to capture the program's fifth tournament crown while the Knights attempt to defend their championship from a year ago.
