MONTGOMERY, Ala.- After being chosen to the d3football.com Region 3 third team all-region as a returner, Huntingdon's Tim McReynolds has been deemed an AP All-American.
With today's announcement, McReynolds becomes the first Hawk to be named an AP All-American since Anthony White was selected in the 2015-16 season. The Geneva, Alabama native has racked up the awards in his final season wearing the scarlet and grey, securing 3 USA South weekly football awards, a first team all-conference selection both as a receiver and as a returner, the title of USA South Special Teams Player of the Year, third team all-region honors, and now finally an AP All-American.
"We are all proud of everything that Tim has accomplished at Huntingdon, and this recognition is certainly a great way to end his playing career," Head Coach Mike Turk said about McReynolds. "He is very deserving of this honor, and we appreciate the fact that he is being recognized as one of the best players in the country. Tim has been a valuable member of our program for the last 4 years, and we will miss not only his play making ability, but also his leadership."
During the regular season, McReynolds returned three kicks for a touchdown, two punts and one kickoff. He averaged a League-best 22.2 yards-per-punt return to go along with a 23.9 yards-per-kickoff return mark. Against USA South foes, McReynolds had the longest kickoff return, an 86-yard effort against Southern Virgina. He averaged a Conference-best 23.1 yards-per-punt return with one touchdown on the year.
