  • Men's Basketball Player of the Week
    DJ Via, Mary Baldwin - The Roanoke, Virginia sophomore guard scored 24 points with four assists, four steals, and three rebounds in the team's lone contest last week, an 89-84 win over USA South foe Brevard. Also Nominated: Jadon Carnes, Brevard; Markquan Gilbert, N.C. Wesleyan; Tillman Johnson, Southern Virginia; Doug Smith, Pfeiffer.

    Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week
    Ro'Mello Pegues, N.C. Wesleyan - The Dunn, North Carolina freshman guard averaged 11.0 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 1.0 steals per game last week as the Battling Bishops posted a 2-0 record. In a 78-77 win over Piedmont, Pegues played just seven minutes, totaling two points, two rebounds, and one steal. In an 80-78 win over the reigning USA South champions, Pfeiffer, Pegues scored 20 points with two rebounds, and one steal. Also Nominated: Ashton Davis, Southern Virginia.

  • Women's Basketball Player of the Week
    Abigail Snyder, Southern Virginia - The Rocky Ford, Colorado senior guard averaged 18.7 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 2.7 steals per game as the Knights posted a 2-1 record last week. In an 83-66 loss to fourth-ranked Washington University (Mo.), Snyder recorded her 1,000th career point by scoring 16 points with six rebounds, and one assist. In a 62-49 win over Wellesley, Snyder totaled 22 points, five rebounds, five steals, and four assists. Finally, in an 86-42 victory over USA South foe Salem, Snyder notched a double-double of 18 points and ten rebounds to go along with six assists and three steals.     Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week
    Des'Myah Croom, N.C. Wesleyan - The freshman forward from Mount Olive, North Carolina scored eight points and grabbed five rebounds with zero turnovers in the team's lone contest last week, a 67-61 win over USA South rival William Peace. Also Nominated: Samantha Smith, Southern Virginia; Alisha Watkins, Brevard.
