USA South Athletes of the Week - December 8, 2025

  • Men's Basketball Player of the Week
    Rashod Smith, N.C. Wesleyan - The Wilmington, North Carolina junior guard averaged 18.0 points, 5.3 assists, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.7 steals per game as the Battling Bishops posted a 3-0 record last week. In a 100-66 win over Regent, Smith scored 20 points with nine assists, three rebounds, and two steals. In a 100-83 victory over Mid.-Atlantic Christian, Smith again scored 20 points to go along with five rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Finally, in a 66-51 win over Apprentice, Smith totaled 14 points, three assists, one rebound, and one steal.     Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week
    Dwight Vincent, Greensboro - The Durham, North Carolina freshman guard averaged 14.7 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.0 steals per game as the Pride posted an 0-3 record last week in losses to Guilford, Apprentice, and Mid.-Atlantic Christian. Also Nominated: Mason Wynne, Mary Baldwin; Mason Hunter, Southern Virginia.

  • Women's Basketball Player of the Week
    Nicole Hester, Salem - The Burlington, North Carolina sophomore forward averaged a double-double of 19.0 points and 18.0 rebounds last week as the Spirits posted a 2-0 record. In an 87-22 win over Mid.-Atlantic Christian, Hester scored 22 points and grabbed 23 rebounds, the third-most in a single-game in program history. She also added one steal and one block in the victory. In a 68-58 win over Warren Wilson, Hester totaled 16 points, 13 rebounds, and one steal.     Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week
    Ensley Perry, William Peace - The freshman guard from Knoxville, Tennessee totaled 19 points, five rebounds, four assists, and two steals in the only contest last week for the Pacers, an 88-75 win over USA South rival Greensboro. Also Nominated: Lanie Bethel, Mary Baldwin; Tatum Bradford, Greensboro; Tyla Whitehead, Salem.

  • Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week
    Logan Wade, Methodist - The junior from Snow Hill, North Carolina competed at the Virginia Wesleyan Marlins First Chance Meet in two events. In the 60 meters, Wade set a personal best in the prelims with a 6.87 finish. In the 200 meters, Wade completed the race in a time of 22.26. Also Nominated: Savion Kinard, N.C. Wesleyan; Bricen Burleson, Pfeiffer; Zeke Newman, Southern Virginia.

    Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week
    Noah Boykin, N.C. Wesleyan - The freshman from Four Oaks, North Carolina competed at the Liberty Kickoff last week in the shot put with a best-effort of 13.44 meters. Also Nominated: David Dennis, Methodist; Kendrick Cornelius, Pfeiffer; McCormick Johnson, Southern Virginia.

    Men's Indoor Track Rookie of the Week
    T'Andre Palmer, Pfeiffer - The freshman from Charlotte, North Carolina competed in the 400 meters at the JDL Visit Winston-Salem College Kickoff by completing the race in 48.92. Also Nominated: J'Quez Jackson, Methodist; Chance Bass, N.C. Wesleyan.

    Noah Boykin, N.C. Wesleyan - The freshman from Four Oaks, North Carolina competed at the Liberty Kickoff last week in the shot put with a best-effort of 13.44 meters. Also Nominated: J'Quez Jackson, Methodist; Kendrick Cornelius, Pfeiffer.

  • Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week
    Ti'Asia Bryant, N.C. Wesleyan - The junior from Kinston, North Carolina competed in three events at the Liberty Kickoff. In the 60 meters, Bryant finished in 7.78 in the finals while in the 200 meters, she completed the race in a time of 25.71. Finally, Bryant was a part of the 4x400 meter relay team. Also Nominated: Treazure Rosario Watson, Methodist; Bayleigh Redd-Armstrong, Southern Virginia.

    Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week
    Bryanna Herring, Meredith - The sophomore from Brockport, New York competed in the weight throw at the JDL Early Bird Invitational. Herring set a new program record with a toss of 15.24 meters. Also Nominated: Londyn Green-Dubose, N.C. Wesleyan; Jayden Carter, Pfeiffer; Surraiya Mahmud-Newman, Southern Virgina.

    Women's Indoor Track Rookie of the Week
    NaQuayla Stanford, N.C. Wesleyan - The freshman from Jacksonville, North Carolina competed in three events at the Liberty Kickoff. In the 60 meters, Stanford finished in 8.06 in the finals while in the 200 meters, she completed the race in a time of 25.27. Finally, Standford was a part of the 4x400 meter relay team. Also Nominated: Leilani Rankin, Methodist; Kaylee Horner, Southern Virginia.

    Women's Indoor Field Rookie of the Week
    Londyn Green-Dubose, N.C. Wesleyan - The freshman from Winston-Salem, North Carolina competed in the long jump at the Liberty Kickoff. Green-Dubose posted a mark of 5.21 meters in the event. Also Nominated: Jamie Cornatzer, Meredith; Jayden Carter, Pfeiffer.
