Annapolis, MD - The North Carolina Wesleyan men's tennis team opened NCAA Tournament play in dominant fashion on Friday evening, rolling to a 4-0 victory over York (Pa.) at the Brigade Sports Complex in Annapolis, Maryland.

The Battling Bishops (13-12), ranked No. 35 nationally, quickly gained control with strong doubles play. Francesco Raparo and Bohdan Zhylchuk posted a decisive 6-1 win at No. 3 doubles, while Brody Brice and Logan Stoltz followed with a 6-0 victory at No. 2 to clinch the opening point. The No. 1 doubles match featuring Luca Knese and Albert Sitwell was left unfinished with the Bishops leading 5-1.

In singles, Wesleyan continued to dominate. Logan Stoltz made quick work at No. 5 singles with a 6-0, 6-0 win, and Shori Nishizoe matched him at No. 6 with another 6-0, 6-0 performance to push the Bishops ahead 3-0. Bohdan Zhylchuk then sealed the match at No. 3 singles with a 6-1, 6-1 victory to complete the sweep.

With the team match decided, action at Nos. 1, 2, and 4 singles was halted.

North Carolina Wesleyan now advances to face nationally-ranked Johns Hopkins in the NCAA Second Round on Saturday.
