Methodist's Conley Named Region IV Coach of the Year

NORMAN, Okla.  For the 20th time in his career, Methodist men's golf coach Steve Conley has been named a regional coach of the year by the Golf Coaches Association of America. The organization announced Conley as the Division III Region IV Coach of the Year on Tuesday.

Conley, who is also a nine–time national coach of the year, has received the regional honor in four of the last five seasons. This season's recognition comes after his team won the 15th national title in program history. On their way to claiming the 2025 Division III national championship, the Monarchs pulled off the program's largest comeback ever in the national tournament, rising from 19th place after the first round as they ascended to the top of the leaderboard.

The national championship was one of six tournaments the Monarchs won this season under Conley's guidance. Methodist saw victories during the fall at the Gate City Invitational and the O'Briant–Jensen Memorial. Then in the spring, the Monarchs ended the season with wins in four of their final five events. They took first place at the Tiger Invitational, the Fred Kravetz Invitational and the USA South Championship before hoisting the NCAA trophy.

Conley's squad this season was led by two All–American first teamers in Chase Walts and Haden Ruby, both of whom were also named finalists for the Jack Nicklaus award in May. All five members of Methodist's national championship lineup garnered All–Region accolades from the GCAA and were named to the USA South All–Conference teams, while Conley was tabbed as the USA South's Coach of the Year for the 27th time in his career.

Conley has been the head coach at Methodist for 38 seasons and has been at the helm for all 15 of the program's NCAA Division III national championship victories.
