USA South Athletes of the Week - February 9, 2026

  • Men's Basketball Player of the Week
    Jadon Carnes, Brevard - The Concord, North Carolina senior forward averaged 21.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game last week as the Tornados posted a 1-1 record against USA South foes. In a 96-90 loss at Greensboro, Carnes scored 23 points with six rebounds, and four assists. In an 85-74 victory over Methodist, Carnes totaled 19 points, six rebounds, two assists, and one steal.     Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week
    Quamir Ingram, Greensboro - The Greensboro, North Carolina freshman guard averaged 18.5 points and 4.0 rebounds per game last week as the Pride posted a 1-1 record against USA South foes. In an 88-70 loss at Southern Virginia, Ingram scored 18 points with four rebounds. In a 96-90 win over Brevard, Ingram totaled 19 points and four rebounds.   • Women's Basketball Player of the Week
    Abigial Snyder, Southern Virginia - The Rocky Ford, Colorado senior guard averaged 19.7 points, 7.7 rebounds, 4.7 assists, and 2.3 steals per game last week as the Knights posted a 3-0 record against USA South competition. In an 87-52 win over Greensboro, Snyder filled up the box score with 13 points, nine rebounds, seven assists, five steals, and one block. In a 66-51 victory over Meredith, Snyder scored a game-high 34 points with nine rebounds, and five assists. Finally, in a 58-54 win at William Peace, Snyder contributed 12 points, five rebounds, two assists, and two steals.     Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week
    Ensley Perry, William Peace - The freshman guard from Knoxville, Tennessee averaged 15.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.5 steals per game as the Pacers posted a 1-1 record last week against USA South foes. In a 71-58 win over Pfeiffer, Perry scored 17 points with three rebounds, two assists, and one steal. In a 58-54 loss to Southern Virginia, Perry totaled 14 points, three rebounds, two steals, and one assist. Also Nominated: Molly Zuburg, Meredith; Kensly Stewart, Greensboro; Samantha Smith, Southern Virginia.

  • Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week
    Bricen Burleson, Pfeiffer - The sophomore from Kannapolis, North Carolina competed at two meets over the past two weeks. At the Tryon Banked Invitational on January 30th, Burleson appeared in two events. In the 800 meters, he had a personal best time of 1:54.93 while in the 3,000 meters, he again posted a personal best time of 8:49.85. At the Camel City Distance Invitational last week, Burleson posted the top mark in the USA South so far this season in the mile with a time of 4:13.97.     Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week
    Jordan Jones, Pfeiffer - The sophomore from Gastonia, North Carolina competed in the long jump at two meets over the past two weeks. At the Tryon Banked Invitational on January 30th, Jones posted a mark of 5.97 meters but topped that last week at the Camel City Distance Invitational with a USA South-leading effort of 6.85 meters. Also Nominated: Kamren Jenkins, Methodist; Noah Boykin, N.C. Wesleyan.

    Men's Indoor Track Rookie of the Week
    Chance Bass, N.C. Wesleyan - The freshman from Stern, North Carolina participated in two events last week at the Doc Hale Invitational. In the 200 meters, Bass placed second with a time of 21.63 and fifth in the 400 meters with a time of 49.16. Also Nominated: Greg Cuthbertson, Methodist; Jorge Clemente-Garcia, Pfeiffer; Sawyer Apple, Southern Virginia.

    Men's Indoor Field Rookie of the Week
    Jordan Brooks, Pfeiffer - The freshman from Granite Quarry, North Carolina competed in the triple jump at two meets over the past two weeks. At the Tryon Banked Invitational on January 30th, Brooks posted a mark of 13.49 meters but topped that last week at the Camel City Distance Invitational with a personal best effort of 13.78 meters. Also Nominated: Kamren Jenkins, Methodist; Noah Boykin, N.C. Wesleyan; AJ Word, Southern Virginia.

  • Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week
    Bayleigh Redd-Armstrong, Southern Virginia - The junior from Spanish Fork, Utah competed at two meets over the past two weeks. At the Bast-Cregger Invitational on January 30-31, Reed-Armstrong set a new USA South record in the 5,000 meters with a time of 17:25.35. She also set a personal best in the 800 meters, finishing in 2:23.92. At the VMI Winter Relays last week, Redd-Armstrong set another USA South record, this time in the mile as she finished in 5:04.37. Also Nominated: Treazure Rosario Watson, Methodist; Kamiyah Wooten, N.C. Wesleyan.

    Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week
    NaQuayla Stanford, N.C. Wesleyan - The freshman from Jacksonville, North Carolina competed in one field event, the long jump, at the Doc Hale Invitational last week. Stanford finished ninth in the event with a leap of 5.45 meters. Also Nominated: Marin Simons, Southern Virginia.

    Women's Indoor Track Rookie of the Week
    NaQuayla Stanford, N.C. Wesleyan - The freshman from Jacksonville, North Carolina competed in one track event, the 400 meters, at the Doc Hale Invitational last week. Stanford finished the race in a time of 58.13. Also Nominated: Leilani Rankin, Methodist; Amee Newman, Southern Virginia.

    Women's Indoor Field Rookie of the Week
    NaQuayla Stanford, N.C. Wesleyan - The freshman from Jacksonville, North Carolina competed in one field event, the long jump, at the Doc Hale Invitational last week. Stanford finished ninth in the event with a leap of 5.45 meters. Also Nominated: Laila Johnson, Methodist; Jayden Carter, Pfeiffer; Andie Hughes, Southern Virginia.

  • Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week
    Seth Woods, Greensboro - The senior attackman from Hilton Head, South Carolina totaled six points on five goals and one assist in the team's lone contest last week, an 18-8 win over Oglethorpe. He also added six ground balls and two caused turnovers in the victory. Also Nominated: Tyler Abrams, LaGrange; Tiger Hopkins, Pfeiffer; Jaxon McMonigle, Huntingdon.

    Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week
    Korbin Hamilton, Pfeiffer - The senior goalkeeper from Jacksonville, Florida stopped 18 shots in the team's lone contest last week, a 14-13 overtime win over Rhodes. Hamilton also added two ground balls in the victory. Also Nominated: Braeden Mitchell, Greensboro; Mason Honeycutt, Huntingdon; Alex Mann, LaGrange.

    Men's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week
    Cedrick Crenshaw Jr., Greensboro - The senior defender, in his first year of collegiate lacrosse, caused a game-high three turnovers in an 18-8 win over Oglethorpe, the team's lone contest last week. Also Nominated: Alex Mann, LaGrange.
