Softball Player of the Week
Ashbee Standridge, Meredith - The junior first baseman from Creedmoor, North Carolina went a combined 7-for-15 (.467) with a .500 on-base percentage, and a .933 slugging percentage to go along with three runs scored, five RBI, one double, two home runs, and one walk as the Avenging Angels posted a 1-3 record last week. In two losses to Averett, Standridge was a combined 4-for-8 with one run scored, two RBI, and one home run. In a 5-1 victory over New Paltz, Standridge was 1-for-4 with a run scored. Finally, in a 15-3 loss to seventh-ranked Randolph-Macon, Standridge was 2-for-3 with one run scored, three RBI, one home run, and one walk. Addyson Romanczyk, N.C. Wesleyan - The sophomore from Grandy, North Carolina earned a complete game shutout victory in her only appearance last week for the Battling Bishops. In a 6-0 win over Sweet Briar, Romanczyk allowed just three hits with zero walks and two strikeouts. Heather Vaughn, Pfeiffer - The freshman utility player from Eli Whitney, North Carolina went a combined 7-for-13 (.538) with a .538 on-base percentage, and a .615 slugging percentage to go along with two runs scored, three RBI, one double, and two stolen bases as the Falcons posted a 1-3 record last week. In going 1-2 against Piedmont, Vaughn was a combined 4-for-10 with one run scored, two RBI, and one stolen base. In a 5-2 loss to Mt. St. Joseph, Vaughn was a perfect 3-for-3 with one run scored, one run batted in, one double, and one stolen base. Also Nominated: Emily Hill, Brevard; Summer Sheek, Greensboro; Vivian Lloyd, N.C. Softball Rookie Pitcher of the Week
Abigail Bowman, Pfeiffer - The freshman from Lenoir, North Carolina appeared in three games, two starts, and went 1-2 with a 2.40 ERA, allowing six runs, four earned, on 12 hits with one walk and nine strikeouts. In her collegiate debut, a 9-0 win over Piedmont, Bowman tossed a five-inning no-hitter, with zero walks and five strikeouts.
