2026 USA South Men's Tennis Awards Announced

The USA South Athletic Conference has announced its 2026 All-Conference awards for men's tennis. Individually, N.C. Wesleyan's Adam Singleton was named Player of the Year while his coach, Albie Brice claimed Coach of the Year. Pfeiffer's Valter Albuquerque earned Rookie of the Year to round out the individual honors. Also, the USA South recognized an All-Sportsmanship Team, consisting of one member from each competing school.

All awards were determined by a vote of the USA South men's tennis coaches.

Singleton, a junior from Manchester, Lancashire, England, becomes the tenth Battling Bishop men's tennis student-athlete to be named USA South Player of the Year. Playing primarily at the number-one singles position this season, Singleton has posted an 8-12 dual match record against a schedule which has seen several nationally-ranked teams and opponents. Against USA South foes, Singleton was 3-0, including a straight-set victory over reigning League Player of the Year, Matthew Hurley from Methodist. For his efforts this spring, Singleton earned First Team All-Conference honors while being named USA South Player of the Week once and a part of the USA South Doubles Team of the Week twice.

Albuquerque, a freshman from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil becomes the third consecutive Falcon men's tennis student-athlete to be named USA South Rookie of the Year. Playing at the number-one singles position during the regular season, Albuquerque compiled an 8-7 dual match record with a 2-2 mark in Conference play. In doubles, teaming with Jayden Wellman, the duo posted a 10-3 overall record with a 3-1 League tally. For his efforts during the year, Albuquerque earned First Team All-Conference honors while also being named USA South Player of the Week once, USA South Rookie of the Week four times, and a part of the USA South Doubles Team of the Week twice.

Brice, in his ninth year as the head coach of N.C. Wesleyan, received his fifth consecutive, and seventh overall, USA South Men's Tennis Coach of the Year honor. He guided the Battling Bishops to the program's 17th consecutive unblemished Conference season (5-0), earning the program's 17th straight regular season title. N.C. Wesleyan has now won 127 Conference matches in a row. The Battling Bishops are headed into the semifinals of the USA South Tournament as the top-seeded team seeking the program's 17th consecutive tournament championship.
