USA South Athletes of the Week - April 13, 2026

  • Baseball Player of the Week
    Trevor Testerman, Greensboro - The junior outfielder from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina went a combined 9-for-16 (.563) with a .667 on-base percentage, and a 1.625 slugging percentage to go along with ten runs scored, 14 RBI, three doubles, one triple, four home runs, three walks, two hit by pitches, and one stolen base as the Pride went 3-1 last week. In a 14-6 loss to Hampden-Sydney, Testerman was 1-for-3 with two runs scored, two RBI, and one home run. In a three-game sweep of USA South foe Mary Baldwin, Testerman was a combined 8-for-13 with eight runs scored, 12 RBI, three doubles, one triple, three homes runs (all in game three of the series), three walks, two hit by pitches, and one stolen base. With his four homers last week, Testerman is now Greensboro's single-season home run leader with 15.     Baseball Pitcher of the Week
    James Eason, Pfeiffer - The sophomore from Rockingham, North Carolina earned a win in his only appearance last week, a complete-game shutout in a 2-0 victory over USA South foe N.C. Wesleyan. Eason allowed nine hits and two walks with four strikeouts in the win. Also Nominated: Zack Geertsen, Southern Virginia; Austin Federspiel, Greensboro; Dalton Juden, Methodist; Colby Lewis, N.C. Wesleyan.

    Baseball Rookie of the Week
    Ben Mecimore, Pfeiffer - The freshman catcher/outfielder/designated hitter from Oakboro, North Carolina went a combined 7-for-17 (.412) with a .474 on-base percentage, and a .588 slugging percentage to go along with five runs scored, one run batted in, one double, one triple, two walks, and one stolen base as the Falcons posted a 3-1 record last week. In a 12-3 win over Roanoke, Mecimore was 2-for-3 with three runs scored, one double, and one walk. In taking two of three games from USA South foe N.C. Wesleyan, Mecimore was a combined 5-for-14 with two runs scored, one run batted in, one triple, one walk, and one stolen base.     Baseball Rookie Pitcher of the Week
    Austin Federspiel, Greensboro - The freshman from Kernersville, North Carolina earned a win in two appearances out of the bullpen last week for the Pride. In 5.2 total shutout innings, Federspiel allowed five hits and one walk with six strikeouts. In a 14-6 loss to Hampden-Sydney, Federspiel keep the offense at bay by tossing a shutout innings, allowing one hit and one walk with one strikeout. In a 17-6 victory over USA South foe Mary Baldwin, Federspiel pitched the final four and two-thirds innings without allowing a run on four hits with five strikeouts to gain the win.   • Softball Player of the Week
    Kaydon Roberson, Meredith - The sophomore infielder from Princeton, North Carolina went a combined 10-for-20 (.500) with a .524 on-base percentage, and an .800 slugging percentage to go along with three runs scored, six RBI, two doubles, two triples, one hit by pitch, and one stolen base as the Avenging Angels posted a 5-1 record last week. In a doubleheader sweep of USA South foe Methodist, Roberson was a combined 6-for-7 with one run scored, three RBI, one double, and one stolen base. In a doubleheader sweep of USA South rival Mary Baldwin, Roberson was a combined 4-for-7 with two runs scored, three RBI, one double, and two triples. Finally, in a doubleheader split with Christopher Newport, Roberson was hitless.     Softball Pitcher of the Week
    Lillie Davis, Meredith - The senior from Roxboro, North Carolina appeared in five games, all starts, and earned a 5-0 record last week for the Avenging Angels. In 32.0 total innings pitched, Davis posted a 0.88 ERA by allowing six runs, four earned, on 14 hits with six walks, and 33 strikeouts. Against USA South foes Methodist and Mary Baldwin, Davis was 4-0 with two complete-game shutouts and two one-hitters. In a 4-3 victory over Christopher Newport, Davis got the win by going the distance and allowing three runs on seven hits with one walk. Additionally, at the plate, Davis hit .313 with three runs scored, seven RBI, and a home run for the week.     Lexi Howerton, N.C. Wesleyan - The freshman infielder from McKenney, Virginia went a combined 4-for-6 (.667) with a .714 on-base percentage, and a 1.000 slugging percentage to go along with two runs scored, one run batted in, two doubles, and one walk as the Battling Bishops swept USA South foe Brevard in their only contests last week.     Softball Rookie Pitcher of the Week
    Abigail Bowman, Pfeiffer - The freshman from Lenoir, North Carolina appeared in two games out of the bullpen and was 2-0 in the team's lone games last week, a doubleheader sweep of USA South foe Greensboro. In 10.2 total innings pitched, Bowman posted a 1.31 ERA by allowing three runs, two earned, on four hits with no walks and 13 strikeouts. In the first game, Bowman tossed the final six innings and did not allow a run on two hits with zero walks and eight strikeouts. In game two, Bowman went the final four and two-thirds innings, allowing three runs, two earned, on two hits with zero walks and five strikeouts.   • Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week
    Justin Barry, Greensboro - The senior attackman from Lexington, North Carolina totaled 17 points on 11 goals and six assists with three ground balls in a 2-0 week for the Pride against USA South rivals. In an 18-5 win over William Peace, Barry scored six times with five assists. In a 14-7 victory over Methodist, Barry totaled five goals, one assist, and three ground balls.     Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week
    Rhoan McKeehan, Huntingdon - The freshman defender from Lake Tapps, Washington caused two turnovers and collected five ground balls in the team's lone contest last week, a 17-5 win over USA South rival LaGrange.     Men's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week
    Cole Carson, Piedmont - The freshman attackman from Pineville, North Carolina scored four goals, caused seven turnovers, and grabbed four ground balls in the team's lone contest last week, a 27-3 victory over USA South rival Brevard. Also Nominated: Lincoln Timothy, Southern Virginia; Nico Palmieri, Huntingdon; Cedrick Crenshaw Jr., Greensboro; Brady McCormack, Pfeiffer.

  • Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week
    Ellie Patterson, Southern Virginia - The senior midfielder from Meridian, Idaho totaled 23 points on 15 goals and eight assists to go along with six caused turnovers, five ground balls, and five draw controls in a 2-0 week for the Knights against USA South foes. In a 20-3 win over Greensboro, Patterson set new program single-game records for points (12) and goals (9) to go along with three assists, four draw controls, three ground balls, and three caused turnovers. In a 20-2 victory over Brevard, Patterson totaled six goals, five assists, three caused turnovers, two ground balls, and one draw control.     Ricky Richards, Southern Virginia - The sophomore midfielder from Lehi, Utah totaled five caused turnovers, eight ground balls, and four draw controls to go along with four goals and one assist in a 2-0 week for the Knights against USA South foes. In a 20-3 win over Greensboro, Richards totaled two caused turnovers, four ground balls, four draw controls, three goals, and one assist. In a 20-2 victory over Brevard, Richards caused three turnovers and grabbed four ground balls while scoring one goal.     Women's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week
    Quinn Branca, Pfeiffer - The freshman midfielder from Mays Landing, New Jersey totaled 14 points on 12 goals and two assists to go along with 17 draw controls, seven ground balls, and four caused turnovers in a 2-0 week for the Falcons against USA South foes. In a 22-3 win over Brevard, Branca scored eight times with one assist, 12 draw controls, two ground balls, and one caused turnover. In a 23-1 victory at William Peace, Branca totaled four goals, one assist, five draw controls, five ground balls, and three caused turnovers.     Matthew Hurley, Methodist - The senior from Faulconbridge, New South Wales, Australia posted a 3-0 singles record with a 1-1 doubles mark last week for the Monarchs. In singles, at the number-one spot, earned wins over opponents from USA South foes Pfeiffer and William Peace along with Johnson & Wales. In doubles, Hurley teamed with Decklan Rayner to grab a win over Johnson and Wales at the number-one position. Also Nominated: Ben Russell, N.C. Wesleyan; Mason Pitcher, Southern Virginia.

    Men's Tennis Rookie of the Week
    Tracen Karrasch, Southern Virginia - The freshman from Payton, Utah posted a 1-1 singles record and a 2-0 doubles mark last week for the Knights against USA South foes Brevard and Southern Virginia. At the number-one singles position, Karrasch earned a win over an opponent from William Peace. In doubles, he teamed with Mateo Molanphy at the number-two spot to grab victories.     Men's Tennis Doubles Team of the Week
    Farhaan Patrawala and Ben Russell, N.C. Wesleyan - The Battling Bishop duo earned a 2-0 record at the number-two spot last week with wins over opponents from USA South foe Pfeiffer and Division-I North Carolina A&T. Also Nominated: Harry Crokam and Aaron Zoubek, Methodist; Spencer Knight and Mason Pitcher, Southern Virginia.

  • Women's Tennis Player of the Week
    Lydia Delich, Southern Virginia - The senior from Eveleth, Minnesota earned a singles and doubles win, both at the number-one spots, over opponents from USA South foe Meredith in the team's lone contest last week. Delich won her singles match 6-0, 6-0, and teamed with Nadia Molanphy to grab a 6-0 doubles victory. Also Nominated: Helen Hofmann, Methodist; Ivanna Torres, N.C. Wesleyan.

    Women's Tennis Rookie of the Week
    Helen Hofmann, Methodist - The freshman from Fayetteville, North Carolina posted a 2-0 record in both singles and doubles last week with wins over opponents from USA South foes Pfeiffer and Meredith. In singles, Hofmann earned a win at number-two over Pfeiffer and number-one over Meredith. In doubles, at the number-two spot, she teamed with Caitlin Tihanovich to grab the victories.     Women's Tennis Doubles Team of the Week
    Shea Bieniek and Emma Hulicki, Methodist - The Monarch duo earned a 2-0 record last week at the number-one position. The victories came over opponents from USA South foes Pfeiffer and Meredith.   • Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week
    Bricen Burleson, Pfeiffer - The sophomore from Kannapolis, North Carolina competed in two events at the Duke Invitational last week. In the 1,500 meters, Burleson set a new program record by finishing in a time of 3:54.31. He also competed in the 800 meters with a time of 1:53.72.     Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week
    McCormick Johnson, Southern Virginia - The sophomore from Houston, Texas competed in the pole vault at the Lynchburg Craddock Coaches Classic last week with a mark of 4.55 meters. Also Nominated: Hank Tarte, Brevard.

    Men's Outdoor Track Rookie of the Week
    Ja'Mario Young, N.C. Wesleyan - The freshman from Alexandria, Virginia competed in three events at the Tennessee Invitational last week. In the 100 meters, Young finished in a time of 10.65 while in the 200 meters, he completed the race in 21.40. Young also was a part of the 4x100 meter relay squad.     Men's Outdoor Field Rookie of the Week
    Kamren Jenkins, Methodist - The freshman from Charleston, South Carolina competed in three events at the Lynchburg Craddock Coaches Classic last week. In the triple jump, Jenkins had a season-best mark of 14.22 meters. In the high jump, his best effort was 1.80 meters. Finally, in the long jump, Jenkins had a distance of 6.20 meters.   • Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week
    Delaney Bundy, Meredith - The junior from Cary, North Carolina competed in the 10,000 meters at the Lynchburg Craddock Coaches Classic last week, setting a new program and USA South record by finishing in a time of 36:12.76. Also Nominated: Treazure Rosario Watson, Methodist; Kamiyah Wooten, N.C. Wesleyan; Triana Smallwood, Salem; Bayleigh Redd-Armstrong, Southern Virginia.

    Londyn Green-Dubose, N.C. Wesleyan - The freshman from Winston-Salem, North Carolina competed in triple jump at the Tennessee Invitational last week with a best effort of 11.42 meters. Also Nominated: Bryanna Herring, Meredith; Mikki Prows, Southern Virginia.

    Women's Outdoor Track Rookie of the Week
    NaQuayla Stanford, N.C. Wesleyan - The freshman from Jacksonville, North Carolina competed in three events at the Tennessee Invitational last week. In the 200 meters, Stanford finished in a time of 24.59 while in the 400 meters, she completed the race in 56.61. Additionally, Stanford was a member of the 4x100 meter relay team.
