Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. – The NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championships concluded Friday evening with Southern Virginia University men's golfer Nikko Taggart finishing tied for fifth place nationally.
Taggart posted an overall score of 281 (-6) across the four-round championship, carding rounds of 69 (-2), 70 (-2), 73 (+1), and 69 (-3) to cap off a remarkable tournament performance.
He finished tied for second in the field with 19 birdies and also tied for second in par-four scoring, averaging 3.95 (-2) throughout the championship.
Taggart continued to make program history, becoming the first Knight to compete at the NCAA Championships while also setting program records for best 72-hole score and highest national finish with a top-five placement. Entering the tournament ranked No. 29 nationally, Taggart closed the season among the nation's elite golfers.
He also wrapped up the year earning USA South All-Conference First Team honors and selection to the PING All-Region Team.
Taggart finished his final round in impressive fashion, shooting 33 (-4) on the back nine to secure his top-five finish.
