(FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.) - The USA South Athletic Conference is
pleased to announce its 2013 Hall of Fame Class.
The 2013 class includes two former student-athletes, one coach
and two administrators. Christopher Newport University, Greensboro
College, Methodist University and North Carolina Wesleyan College
are each represented in this year's class.
The inductees will be officially honored and recognized during a
ceremony on the campus of Greensboro College on Sunday, May 5,
2013.

STUDENT-ATHLETES

Greg Clark was the North Carolina
Wesleyan College baseball program's first-ever All-American during
his time on the diamond (1979-1982). He was a four-time
All-Conference performer, a two-time N.C. Wesleyan Male Athlete of
the Year and the 1981 NCAA Regional Tournament Most Valuable
Player. Clark then garnered NCAA Regional and World Series
All-Tournament team honors in 1982, in addition to being named the
Dixie Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year. Clark
still holds the NCAA Division III record for career stolen bases
with 202. He went on to play in the Los Angeles Dodgers
organization before returning to the Rocky Mount, North Carolina
area to begin a 30-year career as a teacher/coach with the
Nash/Rocky Mount school system. Clark currently is the Head Junior
Varsity Coach and Assistant Varsity Coach of the N.C. Wesleyan
baseball program. In 1999, he was inducted into the N.C. Wesleyan
College Athletics Hall of Fame.

Rebecca Morton, a star on the
Methodist University women’s soccer team (1991-1994), is a
two-time NCAA Division III All-American. Morton was a four-year
starter who helped lead the Monarchs to three Conference
Championships and two NCAA Division III Tournament appearances. She
was a four-time All-Conference honoree and two-time (1993, 1994)
Conference Player of the Year. Morton is currently ranked second in
the Methodist women's soccer career record book with 30 goals and
68 points. In 2007, she was inducted into the Methodist University
Athletics Hall of Fame.

COACH
|
|
|
Robert Linville served as head coach
of the Greensboro College (1995-2006) men's golf program for 12
seasons. He was named Conference Coach of the Year four times and
NCAA Division III Coach of the Year twice. In 2000, Linville led
The Pride to the program's first NCAA Division III National
Championship. Additionally in 2000, he was chosen to coach the
United States College All Star team in its annual competition
against Japan, an honor that would be repeated in 2006. In 2002,
Linville's squad captured the Conference Championship. During his
coaching career, Linville coached 12 All-Americans, 19 All-South
Region honorees, two National Players of the Year, one National
Freshman of the Year and one National Champion. A standout golfer
himself, Linville was an All-American at Guilford College and
played professionally for seven years before devoting himself to
teaching full-time. In 2008, Linville was inducted into the
Greensboro College Athletics Hall of Fame.

ADMINISTRATORS

|
William Ariail served Greensboro
College as Director of Physical Education and Athletics for 18
years (1959-1977). He also served as Physical Education Department
Chair, Athletic Director and Coach at Louisburg Junior College
prior to joining the Greensboro faculty. Ariail served as
Greensboro's first Director of Athletics and Head Men's Basketball
Coach. He was instrumental in Greensboro's arrival into the Dixie
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference as the institution began play
in the league in 1966 as the Conference's seventh member. In 1968,
Ariail was named Conference Coach of the Year as he led Greensboro
to the program's first-ever League men's basketball title. In 2000,
Ariail was inducted into the Greensboro College Athletics Hall of
Fame. Ariail passed away in 2007, leaving an enduring memory of
service to The Pride athletic program.

Bev Vaughan served Christopher Newport
University as Director of Athletics and Head Men's Basketball Coach
for 20 years (1967-1987). As athletic director, he founded the
athletic program and built it into a solid and respected Division
III institution. Vaughan also led the Captains into the Dixie
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference as the institution began play
in the league in 1972. As CNU's first men's basketball coach in
1967, he led the program for 14 seasons. During the 1979-80 season,
Vaughan guided the Captains to the program's first-ever Conference
Regular Season championship and earned League Coach of the Year
honors. In 1981, he was named Peninsula Sports Club (Va.) Man of
the Year. In 1989, Vaughan was a member of the Charter Class of the
Christopher Newport University Athletics Hall of Fame.
