2023 USA South Men's Lacrosse Awards Announced

The USA South Athletic Conference has announced its 2023 All-Conference awards for men's lacrosse. Individually, Methodist's Hunter Vaughan was named Offensive Player of the Year while LaGrange's Isaac Bohrer collected Defensive Player of the Year honors. Southern Virginia's Jon Yandow earned Rookie of the Year and Pfeiffer's Tucker Nelson was named Coach of the Year to round out the individual awards. Finally, the USA South recognized an All-Sportsmanship Team, consisting of one member from each competing school.
All nominees were submitted by each institution and the awards are voted on by the men's lacrosse coach at each institution.
Vaughan, a senior attackman from Apex, North Carolina becomes the first Monarch to be named USA South Men's Lacrosse Player of the Year. Following the end of the regular season, Vaughan led the Conference with 75 points on 53 goals, which ranked second, and 22 assists, which was sixth-best. He has also contributed 26 ground balls and six caused turnovers this spring. In League-only play, Vaughan led the League in each offensive category with 58 points on 38 goals and 20 assists. For his efforts, Vaughan earned First Team All-Conference accolades at attack while being named USA South Player of the Week twice this spring.
Bohrer, a senior goalie from Fayetteville, Georgia is the first Panther to win the Conference's Defensive Player of the Year award. Through regular season play, Bohrer started every game for the Panthers, leading the Conference in saves with 207 while ranking second with a 55.2 save percentage. In USA South-only contests, Bohrer led the League with a 56.1 save percentage and was second by one save with 119 stops. For his efforts, Bohrer earned First Team All-Conference accolades in goal.
Yandow, a freshman midfielder from Orem, Utah becomes the second consecutive Knight to be named USA South Men's Lacrosse Rookie of the Year (Gabe King, 2022). Yandow helped control the midfield for the Knights as the team produced successful clears 81% of the time. For the regular season, Yandow totaled 26 points on 19 goals and seven assists with 15 ground balls and one caused turnover. Against Conference foes, Yandow accumulated 16 points on 13 goals and three assists with 11 ground balls. For his efforts, Yandow earned Second Team All-Conference accolades in the midfield.
In his third season fully as head coach at Pfeiffer, Tucker earns his first USA South Coach of the Year accolade. He has led the Falcons to a 14-1 overall record and a 7-1 mark in League play which earned Pfeiffer a share of the program's second USA South regular season title. The 14 overall wins this spring are the most in program history, eclipsing the 13 victories collected by the 2013 squad. Pfeiffer now heads into the semifinal round of the USA South Tournament as the top-seed with hopes of capturing their second tournament title in three years.
