Piedmont Baseball Earns Team Academic Award

GREENSBORO, N.C. -The Piedmont College baseball team was honored for the fourth-straight season by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) earning the Team Academic Excellence Award for the 2018-19 academic year. The Lions have earned this honor each season since the ABCA began recognizing teams for their academic achievements through the creation of this award.

In order to qualify for the award a team must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 on a 4.0 scale during both semesters of the 2018-19 academic year.

Piedmont was one of 79 NCAA Division III teams to earn the honor while being the only USA South team on the listing. A total of nearly 300 high school and college programs earned the ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award.

The Lions had success both in the classroom and on the field in 2019 with a 29-10 overall record and the regular season USA South championship. BRADY BALLSTADT earned Google Cloud Academic All-American honors marking the second year in a row the Lions have had an Academic All-American.
