Maryville College Director of Athletics Kandis Schram has announced that Head Baseball Coach Cody Church has stepped down after five seasons directing the Scots baseball program. With this confirmation, Schram has named Clint Helton the program's interim head coach while the administration acts swiftly and confidently to hire a person to lead the baseball program with the same passion and commitment shared by the program's student-athletes and alumni. The Maryville College administration seeks to begin a national search for the head coach position immediately.
Helton has had a key role in recruiting and developing every player on the active roster, as well as recruiting the outstanding class expected this upcoming fall. He is beginning his sixth season and was named Associate Head Baseball Coach in September of 2017.
"We look forward to finding a leader of young men who will teach life lessons on and off the baseball diamond while developing student athletes to their fullest potential during competition," stated Coach Schram. "This program has a tradition of excellence, and we look forward to seeing what the next leader of the program can accomplish."
