Averett Women's Lacrosse's Roccia Earns Academic All-District

DANVILLE, Va. — Averett University women's lacrosse senior Alixis Roccia was voted to the 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-District First Team At-Large Teams selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) for Division III District 5. In the process, Roccia becomes the first Cougar to earn Google Cloud Academic All-District honors in two sports.

Roccia, a midfielder from Fort MIll, South Carolina, was named to the USA South All-Conference Third Team and earned USA South All-Tournament Team honors this season as Averett had its best season in program history. Roccia scored 49 goals with 24 assists in 16 games. She also had a team-high 58 ground balls to go with 61 draw controls and 23 caused turnovers. Off the field, Roccia graduated in three years with a 4.00 grade point average while majoring in psychology in May 2018. She returned for her final season while pursuing her master's degree in education and has a 4.00 GPA as well.

Roccia also earned Google Cloud Academic All-America Third Team and Academic All-District First Team in women's basketball this year.

As an Academic All-District First Team selection, Roccia is now eligible for Academic All-America consideration, which will be announced in the coming weeks.
