USA South Announces 2020 Hall of Fame Class
The USA South Athletic Conference is pleased to announce its 2020 Hall of Fame Class. The 2020 inductees include five former student-athletes and one former coach/administrator. Averett University, Christopher Newport University, Greensboro College and Methodist University are each represented in this year's class. The inductees will be officially honored and recognized during a ceremony on the campus of Greensboro College on Monday, June 1, 2020. The 2020 Class will be the 11th group inducted into the League's Hall of Fame.

Amy Cross was a three-sport athlete at Averett, starring on the basketball, cross country and tennis teams from 1994-1997. On the cross country course, Cross was a two-time All-Conference performer and the first Cougar to place first at a meet while on the basketball hardwood, she was a team captain. On the tennis court, Cross helped Averett win four consecutive Conference championships by being named an All-Conference honoree in singles once and in doubles three times. She was the 1996 and 1997 USA South Don Scalf Award winner which signified her as the top female student-athlete in the League. Cross is one of just three student-athletes to be named a two-time Scalf Award honoree. In the classroom, Cross was stellar as well as she was valedictorian of her graduating class with a perfect 4.0 GPA. Finally, in 2010, she was inducted into the Averett University Athletic Hall of Fame and in 2014 was selected to the USA South's 50th Anniversary Women's Cross Country and Women's Tennis teams.

Bob McEvoy served Methodist for 25 years (1992-2017), seven as its men's basketball head coach and 19 as its director of athletics. As a coach for the Monarchs, McEvoy was a two-time Conference Coach of the Year. He was also a two-time Men's Basketball Conference Coach of the Year while also adding a Men's Tennis Coach of the Year accolade during his time at UNC-Greensboro prior to the institution moving to the Division I ranks. Including his years at UNCG, McEvoy led his teams to three regular season conference crowns. In 1997, McEvoy's Methodist squad also captured the tournament title and advanced to the NCAA Division III National Quarterfinals as he was named the South Region Coach of the Year. As an administrator, McEvoy led an athletic department which saw 15 teams capture NCAA Division III National Championships. The Monarchs also earned five USA South Overall Presidents Cups, signifying the institution with the most prolific athletic season, and a Conference-best 100 League championships. McEvoy served the USA South as its president for multiple terms and he also was a member of the NCAA Division III Men's Basketball and Men's Golf National Committees. He was the tournament director for multiple NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Golf National Championship events as well as baseball and softball regional tournaments. Finally, McEvoy was named Methodist's Staff Member of the Year in 2007 and was inducted into the Methodist Athletic Hall of Fame in 2018.

Carrie Pacifico was a four-year star for the Greensboro women's tennis team (2005-2008). She was a three-time USA South Player of the Year as well as a four-time All-Conference and Academic All-Conference honoree. Pacifico collected USA South All-Tournament team honors twice and was named the team's MVP three times. In 2008, Pacifico was named a Third Team Academic All-American and a First Team All-District designee. Playing her entire career at the top singles and doubles positions, Pacifico compiled a 58-5 singles record with a 54-7 doubles mark. She collected several awards and accolades from Greensboro College including the Fred Joseph Award (GC's Highest Athletic Award), the Craven E. Williams Presidential Scholar-Athlete Recipient, the Business Program Faculty Outstanding Service Award and the Harold H. Hutson Award. Additionally, Pacifico earned the 2008 USA South Don Scalf Award which signified her as the top female student-athlete in the League. Finally, in 2014, she was selected to the USA South's 50th Anniversary Women's Tennis and in 2016 was inducted into the Greensboro College Athletic Hall of Fame.

Rob Rodriguez, a four-year star for the Christopher Newport football team (2004-2007), was the 2005 USA South Defensive Player of the Year and a First Team All-American. He was a three-time All-Conference honoree at two positions (defensive back and return specialist) as well a two-time All-Region and All-State performer. Rodriguez holds the program records for career kickoff return yards, career kickoff return average, single-game kickoff return average, single-game kickoff return yards and single-season pass breakups. Additionally, he is the USA South record holder for career kickoff return yards and at his career end, Rodriguez was the program leader in interceptions and interception return yards. Finally, Rodriguez was inducted into the Christopher Newport Athletics Hall of Fame in 2013.

Scott Scovil made a lasting mark during his time with the Christopher Newport golf program (1992-1996). He became the first Captain to win an individual NCAA Division III Men's Golf National Championship when he captured the title by two strokes in 1994. He was a three-time All-American and All-Conference performer while competing in three NCAA Division III tournaments. At the conclusion of his career, Scovil held CNU's all-time record for career and single-season stroke average. Finally, he was inducted into the Christopher Newport Athletics Hall of Fame in 2002.

Antoine Sinclair was a two-time All-American while a member of the Christopher Newport men's basketball squad (1998-2001). Sinclair is one of just four players in Conference history to be named Player of the Year twice as he accomplished the feat in 2000 and 2001 to go along with a Rookie of the Year honor in 1998. He was a three-time All-Conference and All-Tournament performer, collecting Conference Tournament MVP accolades three times as his teams won four League titles. Sinclair was named First Team All-District twice, including District Player of the Year in 2001. He was a three-time All-State honoree and the State Player of the Year in 2000. Sinclair is one of only three players in program history to total more than 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds in a career. He also holds CNU's single-game record for rebounds (26) and has his #2 jersey retired. Following his playing days at CNU, Sinclair continued professionally in England and Germany. Finally, he was inducted into the Christopher Newport Athletics Hall of Fame in 2007. |
