The USA South Athletic Conference is pleased to announce its 2023 Hall of Fame Class. The five inductees, all former student-athletes, represent five different institutions and sports. These individuals will be officially celebrated during a ceremony in the summer. The specific date and location of the event is yet to be determined. Jason Childers was a four-year member of the Methodist men's basketball team from 1993-1997. During his senior year, Childers was named a First Team All-American, the South Region Player of the Year, and the Conference Player of the Year. He led the Monarchs to the Conference Regular Season and Tournament crowns that campaign as he was named First Team All-Conference and the Conference Tournament Most Valuable Player. Methodist ended their season with a run to the final eight of the NCAA Tournament. Childers still holds the Methodist record for points scored in a single-season with 596 and ranks tenth all-time with 63 career blocks while in Fayetteville. Subsequent to his Methodist career, Childers played professional basketball with the Raleigh Cougars and traveled overseas to compete with Sweden-Poang OBBK. Finally, in 2009, Childers was inducted into the Methodist University Athletic Hall of Fame and in 2014 was selected to the USA South's 50th Anniversary Men's Basketball team.

Nick Dean appeared on the Maryville baseball diamond for four years (2012-15), three of which were played as USA South members. Dean is just one of four baseball student-athletes in Conference history to be named Player of the Year twice (2014, 2015). He was a three-time All-Conference performer and named All-Region twice while being named an All-American and South Region Player of the Year in 2015. Dean led the USA South in batting average and slugging percentage in both 2014 and 2015 while topping the League in on-base percentage, hits, RBI, total bases, and assists in 2015. Dean holds the Maryville record for career hits (247) as well as season-highs in hits (74), RBI (51), and slugging percentage (.526). He was the first Scot in program history to be selected in the modern-day Major League Baseball draft when the Los Angeles Dodgers picked him in the 32nd round of the 2015 event.

Carlee Joseph was a four-year star on the women's lacrosse field for Meredith from 2015-18. Joseph is the only women's lacrosse athlete in Conference history to be named Player of the Year three times to go along with a Rookie of the Year accolade. She was a four-time all-conference and all-tournament team member while also earning four USA South Tournament Championships and NCAA Tournament berths. Joseph was named Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Associate (IWLCA) All-Region three times and Meredith's Athlete of the Year twice. She currently holds the USA South record for career points with 378. Off the field, Joseph was a four-time USA South Academic All-Conference team member, named Academic All-District twice, and was the 2018 IWLCA Division III Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Joseph was an active member in the Pi Mu Epsilon Nation Mathematics Honor Society as well as being the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee President during her time at Meredith. Finally, Joseph was the 2018 female recipient of the USA South's Don Scalf Award which is the Conference's most prestigious accolade, honoring one male and one female as its Student-Athletes of the Year.

Addison Lambeth made the most of his two seasons (2016-17) with the Huntingdon men's golf squad. In 2016, Lambeth was Division III's Jack Nicklaus Award Winner which signified him as the top collegiate DIII golfer in the nation. During his two seasons, Lambeth was a First Team All-American, First-Team All-Region, and First Team All-Conference honoree in each campaign. Lambeth individually was the 2016 Division III national runner-up while he helped the Hawks to a team runner-up performance during that year's NCAA National Championship. In 2017, he was named the USA South Player of the Year and finished the season ranked second in the nation individually. Prior to his time on the Huntingdon campus, Lambeth served in the United States Marine Corps from 2010-2015 and was honorably discharged as a sergeant. Finally, Lambeth was the 2016 male recipient of the USA South's Don Scalf Award which is the Conference's most prestigious accolade, honoring one male and one female as its Student-Athletes of the Year.

Gerard Mosley starred on the pitch for the Christopher Newport men's soccer team from 1983-86. He was CNU's first men's soccer All-American, garnering those honors in 1985 as a second team recipient. The following year, Mosley was named a First Team All-American. During his time within the League, Mosley was named All-Conference four times, three of which were of the first team variety. He was named an All-South Atlantic Region performer four times and led CNU to the program's first appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Finally, in 1993, Mosley was inducted into the Christopher Newport University Athletic Hall of Fame and had his jersey number retired in 2006. Following his time in Newport News, Mosley spent 25 years in the Air Force and retired at the rank of Colonel. His last assignment was as the Seventh Air Force Director of Logistics and the Combined Air Force Logistics Center Director, responsible for ensuring aircraft, munitions, supply, transportation and logistics planning for the Korean Theater were mission-ready. |
