USA South Athletes of the Week - October 27, 2025

  • Football Offensive Player of the Week
    Brock Morris, Belhaven - The Jackson, Mississippi senior quarterback passed for 332 yards and four touchdowns in a 28-7 win over USA South foe Methodist last week. Morris was 20-for-34 through the air and while his four scoring tosses produced all the points for the Blazers. Also Nominated: Rayshawn Williams, Brevard; Kirk Scott, LaGrange, Marcus Price, Southern Virginia.

    Football Offensive Rookie of the Week
    Marcus Price, Southern Virginia - The Parker, Colorado freshman quarterback passed for 263 yards and three touchdowns in a 19-10 win over USA South rival N.C. Wesleyan last week. Price was 16-for-26 through the air and his 82-yard bomb in the third quarter put the Knights up by two scores. Also Nominated: Cameron Turner, Greensboro; Kirk Scott, LaGrange.

    Football Defensive Player of the Week
    Deon King Jr., LaGrange - The Vienna, Georgia senior defensive back collected five total tackles, including 3.5 sacks, and forced a fumble in a 30-14 win over USA South foe Huntingdon last week. King's sacks resulted in a total loss of 27 yards while his forced fumble came in the fourth quarter and led to a Panther touchdown three plays later which essentially put the game away. Also Nominated: Curtis Wyatt Beck, Belhaven; Baylee Ramey, Brevard; Frank Walker, Greensboro; Konor Owens, Southern Virginia.

    Football Defensive Rookie of the Week
    Alex Passey, Southern Virginia - The Alpine, Utah freshman safety collected five total tackles, broke up one pass, and intercepted two balls in a 19-10 win over USA South foe N.C. Wesleyan last week. Passey's first interception came on the first drive of the game to thwart a Battling Bishop drive while his second pick came with just under a minute remaining as N.C. Wesleyan attempted a desperate comeback. Also, Passey handed the punting and place-kicking duties, averaging 39 yards per punt with one point-after-touchdown.     Football Special Teams Player of the Week
    Jeremyah Lane, Brevard - The Louisville, Georgia sophomore kick returner started the second half with a bang, returning the kickoff 92 yards for a touchdown in a 34-7 win over USA South rival Greensboro last week. Lane's score pushed the Tornado lead to 20 points and bookended a span of 22 seconds which included two Brevard touchdowns. Also Nominated: Kyle Norris, Belhaven; Aaron Bryant, LaGrange; Alex Passey, Southern Virginia.

  • Men's Soccer Player of the Week
    Jaden Delos, N.C. Wesleyan - The Amiens, France sophomore left wing back scored once with one assist in a 1-1 week for the Battling Bishops. Delos was held scoreless in a 2-0 loss to 19th-ranked Christopher Newport. In a 2-1 win at USA South rival Greensboro, Delos assisted on the game-tying goal in the 83rd minute before scoring the game-winner in the 85th minute. Also Nominated: Julian Martin, Brevard; Gustav Ohman, Greensboro; Wesley Hooker, Pfeiffer; Santiago Escobar, William Peace.

    Men's Soccer Defender of the Week
    Tommaso Cantini, Pfeiffer - The Capannori, Italy senior goalkeeper posted a shutout in the team's lone contest last week, a 3-0 win over USA South foe Southern Virginia. Cantini stopped all four shots he faced to grab his third shutout of the season. Also Nominated: Manuel Tovar Hagstrom, Brevard; Jordi Rodriguez, N.C. Wesleyan; Ayden Miller, William Peace.

    Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week
    Santiago Escobar, William Peace - The Raleigh, North Carolina freshman forward scored the Pacers' lone goal in their only contest last week, a 1-1 draw with USA South foe Methodist. Escobar's goal opened the scoring and gave the Pacers a lead in the 71st minute. Also Nominated: Will Hall, Brevard; Gustav Ohman, Greensboro; Jack Mudd, N.C. Wesleyan; Aiden Dualan, Pfeiffer.

  • Women's Soccer Player of the Week
    Mikayla Zvekan, Brevard - The Draper, Utah senior forward scored twice, both game-winners, as the Tornados posted a 2-0 record last week. In a 2-0 win over Johnson & Wales (N.C.), Zvekan opened the game's scoring in the 62nd minute. In a 1-0 victory over USA South rival Southern Virginia which secured the Tornados the top-seed in the upcoming League tournament, Zvekan scored the only goal of the match with a tally in the 47th minute.     Women's Soccer Defender of the Week
    Abby Nunez, Brevard - The Homestead, Florida junior goalkeeper posted two shutouts, stopping all 12 shots faced, in a 2-0 week for the Tornados. In a 2-0 win over Johnson & Wales (N.C.), Nunez stopped two shots. In a 1-0 victory over USA South rival Southern Virginia which secured the Tornados the top-seed in the upcoming League tournament, Nunez made ten saves. Also Nominated: Hailey Gadd; Southern Virginia; Abbie Gudino, Pfeiffer; Shyann Hansen, Greensboro; Michaela Iapaluccio, Salem.

    Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week
    Michaela Iapaluccio, Salem - The Winter Garden, Florida freshman goalkeeper stopped nine of the ten shots faced in the team's lone contest last week, a 2-1 victory over USA South foe Meredith. Also Nominated: Shyann Hansen, Greensboro; Quinn Branca, Pfeiffer; McKenna Currey, Southern Virginia.

  • Volleyball Player of the Week
    Aubrey Packer, Southern Virginia - The sophomore outside hitter from Bowling Green, Kentucky averaged 6.86 points, 6.43 kills, while hitting at a .376 clip, and 3.71 digs per set as the Knights posted a 2-0 record last week with wins over USA South foes Salem and Meredith. Packer posted one double-double along with week match-highs of 26 kills, 19 digs, two blocks, and one service ace. Also Nominated: Caitlyn Russell, Meredith; Addison Johnson, Methodist; Aspen Bradley, Salem; Abby Lewis, Pfeiffer; Kennedy Mills, Mary Baldwin; Maegan Brylski, William Peace; Jaylyn Templeton, Greensboro.

    Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week
    Mary Miller, Methodist - The junior libero from Winterville, Georgia averaged 7.57 digs per set as the Monarchs posted 1-1 record last week against USA South foes with a win over N.C. Wesleyan and a loss to Salem. Miller posted week match-highs of 34 digs (career high), four assists, and two service aces. Also Nominated: Gracie Fulton, Southern Virginia; Morgan Mayfield, Greensboro; Megan Murray, Meredith; Gracie Payne, William Peace; Madison Bozarth, Salem; Alexa Ammerman, Mary Baldwin; Madison Tate, Pfeiffer.

    Volleyball Rookie of the Week
    Talia Quinn, Southern Virginia - The freshman setter from Orern, Utah averaged 6.43 assists and 2.71 digs per set as the Knights posted a 2-0 record last week with wins over USA South foes Salem and Meredith. Quinn posted one double-double with week match-highs of 25 assists, 11 digs, and one service ace. Also Nominated: Addison Johnson, Methodist; Kathryn Nguyen, Mary Baldwin; Aubrey Chesson, William Peace; Anasty Faavesi, Pfeiffer; Tenley McDonald, Salem.
