The first round of the 2026 USA South Men's Basketball Tournament has concluded with the third through six seeds in action.

The lone upset of the first round came as fifth-seeded Methodist used a big first half run to gain distance from fourth-seeded Greensboro and pull away to an 82-70 victory. In the second first round matchup, third-seeded Southern Virginia was down by 15 points with just over five minutes remaining in the first half before making a furious comeback to eventually defeat sixth-seeded Mary Baldwin, 89-73.

The semifinal round is now set as Methodist will travel to top-seed Pfeiffer while Southern Virginia will head to second-seed N.C. Wesleyan for games on Thursday, February 26. The winners of those contests will meet for the tournament title hosted by the highest-remaining seed on Saturday, February 28.
