The USA South Athletic Conference has announced its 2025 All-Conference awards for women's tennis. Individually, N.C. Wesleyan's Andrea Elaez Miranda was named Player of the Year while Pfeiffer's Fanny Apostolou grabbed Rookie of the Year and her coach, Justin Fainter, earned the Coach of the Year nod. Also, the USA South recognized an All-Sportsmanship Team, consisting of one member from each competing school.
All awards were determined by a vote of the USA South women's tennis coaches.
Miranda, a junior from Lima, Peru becomes just the second Battling Bishop women's tennis student-athlete to be named USA South Player of the Year (Natalia Lopez, 2015). Playing at the number-one singles position for all of the Conference season, Miranda posted a perfect 7-0 record against USA South foes. This included a three-set win over three-time League Player of the Year, Paula Snelson from Southern Virginia. In doubles, with her teammate Ivanna Torres, Miranda was unbeaten with a 7-0 record against League opponents. For her efforts this season, Miranda earned First Team All-Conference honors for the first time after collecting Second Team honors the past two seasons while also adding USA South Player of the Week accolades once.
Apostolou, a freshman from Venezuela, becomes the second consecutive Falcon to earn USA South Women's Tennis Rookie of the Year honors. Playing primarily at the number-four position, Apostolou compiled a 13-3 overall dual match record during the regular season with a perfect 7-0 mark during Conference play. In doubles, when with her primary partner Haley Ingenito, Apostolou posted a 5-0 record against League opponents. For her efforts during the year, Apostolou earned Second Team All-Conference honors while also being named USA South Rookie of the Week twice.
Fainter, in his fifth year as the head coach of Pfeiffer, receives his first USA South Women's Tennis Coach of the Year honor. He has guided the Falcons to a 14-5 overall record and a 6-1 Conference record. Pfeiffer sat second in the USA South standings at the conclusion of the regular season which is two places higher than predicted by the League coaches during the preseason. Since joining the USA South in 2018-19, the best regular season finish for the Falcons prior to this season was fourth.
