The USA South Athletic Conference's volleyball coaches have released their 2025 preseason poll. Head coaches do not vote for their own teams in the balloting.
Southern Virginia was picked to defend its championship from a year ago thanks to receiving 75 total points and five of the possible ten first place votes. The Knights posted a 15-3 mark in Conference play to earn a share of the USA South regular season. The Knights would go on to capture the USA South Tournament crown for the third time in program history, dropping just one out of the ten sets they played. Greensboro was second in the poll with 69 points and three first place votes while Salem, who grabbed a share of the Conference's regular season crown last fall, checked in at third with 66 points and one first place vote. Methodist and Meredith rounded out the top-half of the preseason poll with 57 and 56 points, respectively, while the Avenging Angels grabbed the final first place vote.
Since the first Conference volleyball preseason poll in 2003, the team picked to capture the League title has done so 11 out of 21 years. Conversely, the team picked second in the poll's history, has won the Conference championship six times. Finally, the team picked first in the preseason poll has reached the finals of the Conference tournament on 16 occasions. Southern Virginia, a season ago, became the second consecutive team picked fourth in the preseason poll to end up with a League tournament title.
The 2025 USA South Volleyball Tournament will once again be conducted exclusively on campus sites. The top-eight seeded teams will advance to the tournament which will begin with first round action on Tuesday, November 11. The semifinals will take place Thursday, November 13 with the finals occurring on Saturday, November 15. The higher-seeded team in each contest will host that particular match.
