The USA South Athletic Conference's women's basketball coaches have released their 2026-27 preseason poll. Head coaches do not vote for their own teams in the balloting.
Brevard was placed atop the rankings for the first time in program history thanks to receiving 79 total points and seven of the possible ten first place votes. The Tornados posted a 16-2 regular season League record last season which earned them a share of the program's first championship. Pfeiffer placed second in this year's preseason poll with 68 points and two first place votes. N.C. Wesleyan earned 64 points to appear third while grabbing the final first place vote. William Peace and Methodist rounded out the top-half of the poll with 58 and 43 points, respectively.
The 2027 USA South Women's Basketball Tournament will once again be conducted exclusively on campus sites. The top-eight seeded teams will advance to postseason play which will begin with first round action on Tuesday, February 23. The semifinals will take place Thursday, February 25 with the finals occurring on Saturday, February 27. The higher-seeded team in each contest will serve as the host of that particular game. In last season's tournament final, second-seeded Southern Virginia defeated top-seeded Brevard, 82-74.
