(RALEIGH, NC) - The championship of the 2026 USA South Women's Lacrosse tournament has been decided on the campus of Meredith College. The top-seeded host Avenging Angels pulled away from second-seeded Piedmont to earn a 21-2 victory and the program's 12th consecutive tournament crown.
The game began with a flurry of goals, the first two by Meredith and the next by Piedmont, putting the score at 2-1 for most of the first quarter. In the last two minutes however, the Avenging Angels would score twice and three more times to open the second quarter, giving them a 7-1 advantage before the Lions tallied their second goal. Heading into halftime, Meredith held a 9-2 lead. The Avenging Angels then stepped on the gas, posting a second half shutout while notching 12 scores of their own en route to the championship.
Leading the way offensively for Meredith was Reese Walker who tallied game-highs of 11 points and seven assists with four goals and a game-best ten ground balls. Logan Campbell scored a game-high five goals for the Avenging Angels while Kenzie Todd added four scores of her own and Madison Dean grabbed a game-high four draw controls. For Piedmont, Clara Welch and Lovette Choloh were the goal scorers.
