Piedmont's Team, Huntingdon's Gorden, and SVU's Richards Headed to NCAA Women's Golf Championship

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.  The NCAA Division III Women's Golf Committee officially announced the field for the 2026 NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championship on Monday afternoon, with Piedmont University earning a spot in the national championship tournament. The Lions secured one of the event's automatic qualifiers after capturing the USA South Athletic Conference Championship on April 22. Additionally, Huntingdon's Yvette Gorden and Southern Virginia's Sydney Richards have been selected to compete as individuals. Richards is currently the 19th ranked Division III women's golfer according to the Clippd.com rankings while Gorden sits at 20th.

The championships will consist of both team and individual competition conducted concurrently as 34 teams and six individuals will participate. Following 36 holes of competition, the field will be cut to the top 15 teams and the top six individuals not on one of those teams to compete in the final two rounds . In the team competition, the low four scores from each team for each day will count in the team’s total score. 

The championships will be conducted May 19-22 at Desert Willow Golf Resort in Palm Desert, California. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges will serve as host.
