USA South Golf Athletes of the Week - Oct. 18, 2017

Golfer of the Week
Stephen Shephard, Huntingdon - The junior from Niceville, Florida finished first at the Golfweek Division III Fall Invitational at Raven Golf Club in Destin, Florida last week by shooting an eight-under par 205 which is the best three-round total for a Hawk during the program's NCAA era. In the three-day event, Shephard opened with a two-under par 69 and finished with back-to-back 68's which tied his collegiate-low round. His performance helped the Hawks to a second place finish at the event. Also Nominated: Niklas Grotterud, Averett; Damian Beasley, Ferrum.

Golf Rookie of the Week
Sam Rogers, LaGrange - The freshman from Sebring, Florida finished tied for 17th at the Golfweek Division III Fall Invitational at Raven Golf Club in Destin, Florida by shooting a four-over par 217. In the three-day event, Rogers opened with an even-par 71, then shot a one-under par 70 and finished with a five-over par 76. His performance helped the Panthers to a 14th place finish at the event. Also Nominated: Niklas Grotterud, Averett; Tyler Bray, Maryville.
