Football Offensive Player of the Week
Otis Porter, Huntingdon - The senior wide receiver from Montgomery, Alabama accumulated 175 yards receiving with three touchdowns in a 45-35 win over USA South foe Maryville last week. Porter caught seven passes for an average of 25 yards per completion with a long catch of 71. Football Offensive Rookie of the Week
Brandon Bullins, Methodist - The freshman quarterback from Kernersville, North Carolina tossed a game-winning 48-yd touchdown pass with 27 seconds remaining in the game as the Monarchs topped USA South foe Brevard, 24-23, last week. Bullins was 31-of-48 passing for 339 yards and two touchdowns. His 339 yards through the air are the most by a Monarch since 2016 and his 31 completions are the most since the single-game program record (35) was set in 2014. Bullins also carried the ball seven times for nine yards. Also Nominated: Bryce Jackson, Averett.
Football Defensive Player of the Week
Eddie Graham, N.C. Wesleyan - The Hudson, Florida junior defensive back grabbed two interceptions, returning one of them for a touchdown, in a 44-7 victory over USA South rival Greensboro last week. Graham's 40-yard interception return for a score came in the second quarter and gave the Bishops a 30-0 lead. He also added two solo tackles, one sack and one pass breakup to go along with one field goal and five extra points made as the team's place kicker. Football Defensive Rookie of the Week
Jake Allen, Methodist - The freshman defensive end from Troy, North Carolina was in on a team and career-high nine total tackles in a 24-23 win over USA South foe Brevard last week. Allen had three solo tackles and six assisted take downs with one sack and a block on an extra point which proved to be the difference in the game. Football Special Teams Player of the Week
Malachi Harvey, Huntingdon - The freshman wide receiver from Dothan, Alabama tied a school record with a 90-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in a 45-35 win over USA South foe Maryville last week. Harvey's touchdown came in the early minutes of the second quarter and gave the Hawks a lead they would not relinquish. He had three kickoff returns for a total of 121 yards in the game. Men's Soccer Player of the Week
Erik Blick, Averett - The sophomore midfielder from Gothenberg, Sweden tallied two goals, both of which were game-winners and the only tallies for his team, in a 2-0 week for the Cougars against USA South competition. In a 1-0 win over William Peace, Blick scored in the ninth minute. In a 1-0 victory over Methodist, Blick notched a goal in the 31st minute. Also Nominated: Cameron Earls, Piedmont; T.J. Colton Dutchess, Averett - The junior goalkeeper from Sanford, North Carolina did not allow a goal and posted a 2-0 record last week for the Cougars against USA South competition. In 171 minutes in goal, Dutchess stopped all ten shots he faced. In a 1-0 win over William Peace, Dutchess went the distance and made seven saves to post the shutout. Carr Panetta, Mary Baldwin - The freshman forward from Cedar Park, Texas tallied three goals in a 1-1 week for the Fighting Squirrels versus USA South foes. In a 4-0 win over LaGrange, Panetta scored the first two goals of the match, both unassisted tallies. In a 5-4 loss to Huntingdon, Panetta gave the Fighting Squirrels a lead in the 79th minute but it was not enough. Shannon Reagan, Maryville - The Tullahoma, Tennessee senior forward tallied three goals and two assists in a 2-0 week for the Scots against USA South competition. In a 4-0 win over Huntingdon, Reagan assisted on the final goal of the contest. In an 8-0 victory over Agnes Scott, Reagan notched a hat trick by scoring the game's first two goals then another in the second half while assisting on another. Rebeccah Rojas, Brevard - The Murrieta, California junior goalkeeper posted a 2-0-1 record last week for the Tornados. In 290 total minutes in goal, Rojas stopped 22 of the 23 shots she faced and posted two shutouts. In a scoreless draw with Warren Wilson, Rojas collected nine saves. In a 1-0 victory over USA South foe Agnes Scott, Rojas again made nine saves. Finally, in a 2-1 win over USA South rival Wesleyan, Rojas grabbed four shots. Lucy Sandhoff, Covenant - The Lookout Mountain, Georgia freshman goalkeeper posted a 2-0 record last week for the Scots. In 180 total minutes in goal, Sandhoff stopped 12 of the 13 shots she faced and posted one shutout. In a 4-1 win over USA South foe Berea, Sandhoff made three saves. In a 1-0 victory over Bob Jones, Sandhoff collected ten saves. Meredith Bonee, Maryville - The sophomore setter/right side hitter from Knoxville, Tennessee averaged 4.92 assists, 2.75 kills and 2.17 digs per set as the Scots posted a 3-0 record last week versus USA South competition. In a 3-0 win over Berea, Bonee totaled 13 assists, nine kills, six digs and one service ace. In a 3-2 victory over Huntingdon, Bonee notched a double-double of 26 assists and 14 kills with seven digs, two service aces and one block. Finally, in a 3-1 win over LaGrange, Bonee posted a triple-double of 20 assists, 13 digs and ten assists with four service aces and three blocks. In a 3-0 win over Agnes Scott, Rodriguez totaled 19 digs, three service aces, two assists and one kill. In a 3-0 loss to Covenant, Rodriguez posted 19 digs and one service ace. Reagan Wyatt, Pfeiffer - The freshman middle blocker/right side hitter from Stoneville, North Carolina averaged 4.25 kills, with a .358 hitting percentage, per set as the Falcons posted a 2-2 record last week. In a 3-0 win over USA South foe Salem, Wyatt notched 15 kills, three blocks and two digs. In a 3-1 loss to Randolph, Wyatt posted a career-high 23 kills, three blocks and one dig. In a 3-1 win over USA South rival Mary Baldwin, Wyatt contributed 20 kills, four blocks and one dig. Finally, in a 3-2 loss to USA South foe N.C. Wesleyan, Wyatt totaled ten kills, four digs and four blocks. Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week
Jamie Welch, Berea - The senior from Waverly, Ohio placed 68th out of 255 runners at the Greater Louisville Classic last week. Welch completed the 3,900-meter course in a time of 14:46 helping the Mountaineers to a 26th place team finish. Also Nominated: S.K. Women's Cross Country Rookie of the Week
Lilly Simms, Maryville - The sophomore, competing in collegiate cross country for the first time, from Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, ran twice in the past two weeks. At the Greater Louisville Classic on October 5, Simms placed 119th out of 255 runners as she completed the 3,900-meter course in a time of 15:15 helping the Scots to a 29th place team finish. Last week at the Queens College Challenge, Simms placed 144th out of 541 runners as she completed the 5,000-meter course in a new school record time of 19:24 helping the Scots to a 47th place team finish.
