FOOTBALL

Football Offensive Player of the Week
Michael Lambert, Huntingdon - The senior quarterback from Cullman, Alabama tossed two touchdowns in a 45-21 victory over USA South foe LaGrange last week as the Hawks captured the USA South championship. Lambert was 19-of-24 (79.2%) for 187 yards while carrying the ball twice for six yards. Also Nominated: Tyler Roberts, N.C. Wesleyan; Aaron Bennett, Brevard; Joshua Tapscott, Averett.

Football Offensive Rookie of the Week
Gerald Hines, Brevard - The freshman running back from Pike County, Georgia rushed for 50 yards with a touchdown in a 42-3 victory over USA South rival Greensboro last week. Also Nominated: Dominique McNair, Averett.

Football Defensive Player of the Week 
Terrell England, Averett
 - The Newton, North Carolina junior cornerback grabbed two interceptions and returned them 86 total yards in a 43-7 win over USA South foe Methodist last week. England's first interception came towards the end of the first half and setup a Cougar field goal. His second pick-off came in the fourth quarter at the Averett one yard line to help thwart a Methodist score. He also added two tackles in the victory. Also Nominated: Marcus Leggett, N.C. Wesleyan; Roderic Christian Jr., Methodist; Dante Anderson, Brevard.

Football Defensive Rookie of the Week
Taj Outten, Methodist - The freshman linebacker from Fort Myers, Florida was in on ten tackles and intercepted one pass in a 43-7 loss to USA South rival Averett last week. Outten's interception came in the first quarter and was returned 68 yards to the one yard line which led to the only touchdown on the day for the Monarchs. Football Special Teams Player of the Week
Brandon Norris, Brevard - The sophomore punt returner from Lumberton, North Carolina returned a third quarter punt 57 yards for a touchdown in a 42-3 victory over USA South foe Greensboro last week. He also added another punt return for 21 yards en route to averaging 39 yards per punt return. Also Nominated: Eddie Graham, N.C. Wesleyan; Kobe Praylow, Methodist; Cole Westberry, Averett; Triston Schmidthorst, Huntingdon.

 

MEN'S BASKETBALL

Men's Basketball Player of the Week
Jordan Foote, Piedmont - The junior forward from Snellville, Georgia averaged a double-double of 16.5 points and 11.0 rebounds with 2.0 assists, 1.5 blocks and 1.0 steals per game as the Lions posted a 2-0 record last week. In a 71-64 win over Webster, Foote notched a double-double of 19 points and 13 rebounds with one assist and one steal. In a 76-73 victory over Johnson University Tennessee, Foote totaled 14 points, nine rebounds, three assists, three blocks and one steal. Also Nominated: Michael Phifer, Greensboro; Dante Burden, Methodist; Montre' Cash, Averett; Levi Lamb, Brevard; Julian Cameron, LaGrange; Ricardo Bullock, N.C. Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week
Orry Clements-Owens, Piedmont - The freshman guard from Marietta, Georgia averaged 9.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game as the Lions posted a 2-0 record last week. In a 71-64 win over Webster, Clements-Owens posted ten points, five rebounds and two assists. In a 76-73 victory over Johnson University Tennessee, Clements-Owens totaled nine points, eight rebounds, five assists and one steal. Also Nominated: Jeff Jackson, Averett; Sean Scott, Pfeiffer.

 

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

Women's Basketball Player of the Week
Kimberly Schuh, Meredith - The Apex, North Carolina junior forward averaged 22.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.0 steals as the Avenging Angels posted a 1-1 record last week. In a 54-45 loss to Guilford, who was receiving votes in the D3hoops.com National Top-25 Poll, notched nine points, nine rebounds, two assists and two steals. In a 79-77 win over Division II Shaw, Schuh recorded a season-high 36 points with six rebounds and one assist. Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week
Courtney Carruthers, Maryville - The Maryville, Tennessee freshman guard scored a game-high 38 points off the bench in a 81-71 win over Emory & Henry in the team's only contest last week.
